Aside from AutoMag's personalized one, I've never seen anyone with one of these. I have a chance to get one from a distributor who just got in a small batch of these. But they are quite a bit more expensive than a typical RIA. Bud's last price on this model was $739 i think.

I don't really have the funds to invest in one more gun, but if I knew there was a demand for this model I'd go ahead and order one. I've got some tables at a local gun show next month. I'm just concerned about the price. Are people really going to pay say $725-$735 for a Rock Island?

I'd like to buy it for myself, but have other obligations right now.

I like it.....but I probably wouldn't buy one. Not a fan of the caliber but that is me!

That's what I was afraid most people would think. $735 for a Rock Island i think might put people off and $20/box for the TCM ammo might be just as bad.

That is not a bad price on that Model. You have to stop and remember though that you are actually getting 2 guns for that price, the TCM22 and a 9MM. The gun will definitely sell as we cannot keep them in stock. Just as soon as a batch hits our warehouse they are shipped out to distributors that have dealers already waiting on them.

The TCM is a very nice round, quite a few friends in the law enforcement field are carrying them now and SWAT Teams are asking to demo the gun.

Here is my TCM 22 5" "demo gun" that I will be showing to the local SWAT and SEAL Teams here.

And here is my custom carry TCM 22.

Ellison, we call our 4.25" guns Mid Size (MS) since the Colt followers get bent out of shape when you call a 4" or 4.25" gun a Commander as Colt I believes owns the trademark for it.:)

Yup, I believe that goes back to a lawsuit that resulted in Springfield calling their 4.25 barrel 1911....Champion

Sorry. I posted in the RIA section so i assumed everyone knew I was referring to a RIA.

RIA terminology:
FS: Full size 5"
MS: Mid size (commander for some) 4.25"
CS: Compact size (officer for some) 3.5"

So is the 22 TCM just a necked down 5.56? How do the ballistics compare?

The COAL of a 5.56 would never fit in a 1911 frame.

Perhaps the .22TCM is a necked down 9X19mm?

I don't know.

Edit: Did some looking around. It is a 5.56 shortened to an approximate .38 super length.

The 22TC is a 223 case shortened to these specs, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_TCM#/media/File:22tcm_prm.jpg

It is loaded to the same OAL as a 45 ACP so it will fit in the 1911 platform. The cartridge is loaded with a 22 caliber 40 grain HP and is capable of exceeding 2000 fps in a 5" 1911. The bullets are flat nosed and are normally loaded in a 22 Hornet.
I just recently discovered this round myself even though it has been out for a couple years or more. The muzzle blast is huge and it is very loud but surprisingly the recoil is like shooting a 22 LR through a 40 ounce pistol, There is very little muzzle rise and the front sights come back on target quickly. The accuracy is also impressive.
Armscor is also developing a conversion kit for glocks but they made a
22TCMR for that which is a necked down 9mm. I don't know when that may be available.
