Pics are of my great uncle elk hunting with this rifle. When he passed, he had no will, so there was an auction. As executor of the estate, my Mama snagged this from his gun case before it could go to auction

Sometimes the story behind the gun is as cool as the gun itself....like with this rifle.

Is a pre-1960 model? If so, worth much more, absent the family connection, which makes it priceless.

The serial number checks as built in 1960 according to the Winchester website...I need to check deeper

Yup, great rifle and even greater memories behind it.

I don't need to tell you but take good care of it 😉, and do shoot it.

I know what you mean. I have a post-1960 Model 94 in 3030 and it is a blast to shoot. In a wooded setting, with shots in from 75 yards, it's my go to gun. Iron sights only.

Every time I'm at H&H, I eye the "real" Model 94's with an envious eye.

Uncle said he got that elk at just around 400 yards. He's the one to the right in the 2nd pic. Grew up in an orphanage during the depression

Nice lever guns sir. I've got a 1953 winnie 30-30. Used to collect em. Fell for them when my uncles in the NE used them exclusively. Allowed in the hunting parties at 8, only the grandad used something other than a winnie lever.

Nice heirloom in that caliber
