Yes folks, I finally became a long gun owner. Long story short, a friend was in a pinch and needed to dump a few guns quick. This AR 10 shown below caught my attention.

Having only familiarized myself with the AR-15 in the Army (we tanker's carry pistols :D) and only shooting one once in the past 20 years, I don't really know anything about the AR platform, other than it can be modded to your hearts content. I did consult a few bud's prior to purchase and they said buy it, even before I had a chance to see it.

Here's what I know about it:

Aero Precision Lower - M5, multi caliber
Upper and BCG is unknown, but I'm guessing it's also from AP, at least the upper, but seriously...I have no idea and he can't remember either.
STR butt stock
16" barrel - maker unknown
Zeiss Terra 3x scope, I didn't measure it yet, but I'm guessing it's the 4-12x42 model
Leupold Mark 2 scope mount

Oh, a 360' swivel bi-pod and a 10/30 round mag also come with it, he just didn't have them with him tonight.

Low round count.

Everything feels tight with no slop or play anywhere. My neighbor says I'm one lucky azz bastahd

I did a quick google search of the products that I was able to identify and guestimated the others, rough estimate puts the value at around $1500 or so if I bought the stuff new.

What'd I give for it???? I paid $600 for it.

Did I do good or what?

Now to get some mags & ammo and learn how to shoot this beast!

Thanks for looking.

Is that a BULLET BUTTON I see installed? I've never really seen on installed before. But it must be, because I don't think you can purchase an evil looking weapon of mass destruction like this in California. Nice looking gun tho. Congratulations! Especially at the price!

I was delirious from dehydration and food poisoning or just nuts as usual....I think you are one lucky guy in a whole lot of ways including this find.. Good on you my friend. Sellers picture... I did not buy the body armor or the vest. I haven't even figured out how it works or what it is for in my life...but then - most toys wins, right?

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I gotta give credit to Caleb and Ed, whom I contacted for advice prior to purchase. They gave me the right advice and the nudge to not pass up the deal.

Dennis, ya can't beat yourself up over my lucky deal, hell I'd of probably spend way north of your build if I was to actually build one knowing my ego.

Remember this also, this was a fire sale by my friend otherwise I would've paid more on a regular day.

I will get to the range ASAP.

Ell, not beating my self up, really. I am happy for you and your deal and the fact that you were able to help a guy out in the process. I love my damn thing and someday soon I will be able to figure it out and enjoy it. My brother in law former USMC MP and Camp Perry competitor will snap me in on my way back to Florida. All is good. I like hyperbole and always try to take the A train.:) Perhaps I do not sound like it but I am a very happy and very grateful guy.

if I ever get a poodle shooter AR, it will be old school with carrying handle, peep sights and stock handguards/buttstock. I shot 8 out of 10 bullseyes at 500 yards with that setup, year in year out. Not criticizing anyone else's choice, I'm just an old fart set in my ways. But I'll prolly opt for another mini 14, I like that platform better. May even get with the times and use a scope on it :p

If I got that deal I would probably wake up 6 times over night just to go and look at it to make sure it wasn't a dream.

Seriously, the stripped lower, stripped upper and BCG and you are close enough to what you paid for it was a steal!

I'm going to lose that 25 rd mag in favor of regular 10 rd mags. It's just too long and it'll make shooting it from a bench a nightmare. The bipod legs were fully extended as it was.

Exactly!!!

Add in a $150 for the Leupold IMS Mark 2 scope mount and I basically got the rifle for free :D

It needs a longer, free-floated, hand guard. Just my $0.02
