Just bought one today and took it to the range
WOW!
This thing is really hard to describe. It shoots much more like a 22 pistol than a 380. Very light recoil, very light muzzle blast, and from a VERY light pistol (15 oz empty)

The 4.25" barrel helps. Longer sight radius, higher velocity, lower muzzle blast.

My big fat fingers even fit on the grip...

The sights are off a little so I only shot one box today until I can drift the rear sight over a little. No stoppages in the first 50 round box. When lowering the slide slowly by hand, however, the slide did not go into battery and had to be nudged once. But there were no hiccups while shooting.
This thing slides nicely into a pocket.

This seriously is just like shooting a 22 pistol. It's that comfortable and easy to shoot. One handed was a breeze.

Been on a search for the compact Black Label .380. For some reason they are hard to find.

A couple of weeks ago I took it out on an armadillo patrol at deer camp. Laid a few 'dillos in the dust with it. Dispatches them much much better than a 22.

It was really supposed to be a backup gun, but I find that I'm grabbing it pretty often as my primary when I'm in a hurry or just don't feel like carrying a 45. It's not the gun so much as the mags which are so much thinner and lighter.

Oh, and while at deer camp, I did a water jug test. (I previously did 9mm and 45 ACP water jug tests) It actually had a little more penetration than the 9mm and slightly less than the 45 (all using XTPs). Went through three jugs, hit the fourth, then bounced back into the third. The 9mm stopped inside the third jug. The 45 stopped inside the fourth jug.

I picked one up on Gunbroker about 3 weeks ago. I have very large hands so it is not a natural pointer for me, yet. It is tiny in all dimensions and indeed feels more like a kids toy gun when you pick it up than a 1911. Function is great Even with the 4.25" barrel it is only 17 ounces. Accuracy at self defense distances is surprising. I have a standing order for the short barrel version when they are shipped in June. I am that impressed with it. Look for Browning 1911 380. Fit and finish is about on par with other 1911's at the price point. Jim is right, it is fun and it is easy to carry. It is ground breaking with a lot of Tupperware content but function, handling and controls are ALL right up our 1911 alley.

What I have been looking for is the Black Label Compact. Talked to my gun guy yesterday and he said there is not even a bar code in the order form from Browning yet for the gun. Has anyone actually seen one, other than a picture???? Would love to get my hands on one but I am not sure they have even released it yet. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think they have released the Black Label Compacts in 380 yet. Don't know about the state of the compact 22s, I haven't seen one either.

Penguin, Browning customer service told me a month ago that they are starting production of the compact and will have the first shipment in June and a follow up in July. Dennis
