I decided to make 2017 my first Dan Wesson year. So I ask for your recommendations.
I'm very familiar with 1911's and own several makes and models, jut not a DW.

Thanks.

Kinda depends on what you want...

What length barrel?
What frame material?
What finish?
What caliber?

That will narrow it down considerably...

Great news indeed !!

I own one of the CCO's and have had 'ZERO' issues with it and the fit/finish is faultless. ;)

No preference on any except it has to be a .45.

How much are you willing to spend?

I'm going to say buy a Valor. It has everything you would want in a 1911 and the price can't be beat.

Good luck deciding.

I recommend you enjoy it! :D

[That's the best I can do since I don't yet own one.]

I would go with a CCO, I'm on my second one, to me they are just perfect. I hardly shoot my Valor, I just like the CCO so much better.

Valor, CCO

In 45, I have the 2004 Patriot, which is essentially a Valor. It is a tackdriver. I also have the CCO, which I absolutely love. I think it is pretty much the perfect concealed carry 45. BUT....

I can't say enough about my wife's DW 9mm Guardian... It is of the same quality as the CCO, with a deeper rounding of the grip heel. BUTTT... I also can't say enough about my DW Guardian in 38 Super. Truly the best of between the 45/9mm debate. Except... finding ammo for the 38 Super is a PITA unless you reload (which I do).

Every gun I've mentioned is a tack driver, well built and finished beautifully.

BUT.... if I had to bug out, I'd grab the CCO. (I was going to say I'd grab my Glock, but Nahhhh). Touch base with Severns Customs and ask Dave what he has in stock.

IMHO go with the CCO and if not look at trying to find a CBOB which both are easy to conceal,

Well, I hate to say it, whichever one I get it will be a safe queen. Only to brought out occasionally to play with. I have my daily carries. So, size won't matter.
Thanks all. Keep it coming.

Trust me Tony. Size matters. ROFL....

However... if size is not an issue, I would go with a full steel Valor in .45acp. I don't know if they are still installing a full length guide rod, but its not necessary. I've replaced mine with a govt size guide rod and the gun will outshoot both of us any day of the week. Good luck!

Considering a new Cbob costs more than a Vbob, I would NOT recommend buying a Cbob. Just my .02.

My first was a Valor. I love it. Since we you don't plan to carry it, you'll enjoy it.

I have a VBOB. It looks lovely in the safe. It fails to go into battery. The slide stop and thumb safety fell off....twice. I spent $$ to get it fixed.

I tried to sell it, no luck.

Apparently, I got the only lemon that DW ever produced. :D

Tony, I am with the Sky Pilot Michael on this one, especially since it is a play time choice. I have several 1911's, Wilson Combat and DW in 9mm and .45 both but my favorite play time pistols are a WC full size In 38 super and the most fun of them all, DW Guardian in 38 Super. I love the cartridge and the Guardian is a natural point and shoot for me. It is magic. I don't remember the last time looked at the sights. It shoots where I look. The only other that worked that well was the DW ECO I traded for it. I have acquired another ECO 9mm because I missed it but truthfully I have had it close to a year and it remains unfired. Good luck with your search. Dennis Pony Up

I can't believe you don't want a 10mm. I would have thought you would be a 10 guy for sure.

I would get a CCO. It will become one of your carries. What Da Fadda said, check with Dave Severns.

10mm, I like them too.
