Just got my kit in the mail today. Comes in its own case with a cleaning kit, and I have 2 10 round polymer magazines.
~CNC Machined 7075-T6 Aluminum Slide with Steel Breech Insert.
~Heat Treated 4140 Steel .22LR Barrel, Recoil Spring, Guide Rod and Slide Stop Notch.

Locks back on the last round, something you dont get from Kimber, Ceiner, or Marvel kits

Serrated top, adjustable rear sight, and both sights are bright white and easy to see.

The nice thing about this one is that there are NO FRONT COCKING SERRATIONS! All the new ones I see have them now (barf)

Of course, as soon as the mailman showed up, it started pouring here....so sadly no range report for now :-(

You just remove the top end from your 1911, and slide the 22 top end onto the fram and assemble just like a normal 1911

Overall, a nice looking piece of equipment.

For those interested, here is a comparison pic of my Standard Model and AutoMag's Target Model. The difference in these are that his sights are mounted to the stationary barrel assembly, and mine are mounted to the moving slide....his design gives tighter groups according to the AA website.

That's really nice, Lonnie. I'll be PMing you for some more info on that set up. I'd like to shoot squirrels and coons with my 1911's but not .45 :D

That looks nice. I've also been somewhat considering a 22 lr conversion.

Eagerly awaiting the range report.

I'm pretty curious about that myself.

like usual....the WalMart closest to me was out of what I came for. No CCI MiniMags and only 1 box of Remington Golden Bullet. Since I only have 100 rounds, I only ran 3 mags through it from the kitchen out the back door....I'll use the rest up when the rain lets up and I can hang some targets. Threw a tin can aout about 25 feet and consistantly hit it after I found I was hitting high....I need to adjust the rear sight.

First 2 mags I fired at a steady pace, and with no jams on the Remington ammo, I rapid fired the last mag.....still no jams. It isnt locking back on the last round with either mag I have, but I suspect it may be having to do with my RIA and not the conversion lol. I have a gap between my mags (22 and 45) and the notch in the bottom of the frame, i.e. they hang down....I think its a common issue with Rocks. I may try one of those EGW mag releases that brings your magazine up tighter.

reading from the site, did you swap out hammer springs?

No I did not. I saw that too on the site. My kit isnt new, and has nothing in the manual about changing spring weight and didnt have a spring with it either. I will call AA tomorrow and ask them about the hammer spring and if it needs changed on the kit I have. It says the factory 1911 spring can cause jams, but Im having no jams so far.

It does mention that some manufacturer's plunger springs and/or slide stops can cause issues with slide locking back.....so I will tinker with that

Looking at the site, I found under the specials tab discontinued commander models for $175 thats $100 off regular price. Thats right up my price range so I grabbed one. Says its a Feb 2010 model and current production has changed a little not sure what hoping like Lonnie its the FCS!! It might turn out to be a complete pile of junk haha but Im going to brave it.

I was actually thinking about posting that on here lol.....saw them myself when I was figuring if I wanted to buy the one I got. That's a heck of a deal!...but I wanted the 5inch barrel and couldnt walk away from that one with no FCS lol. When you get it, post it on here for we can see what's different on it:D. Maybe this will turn into a 22 conversion sticky lol.

Did you notice that ALL current models (Target, Standard, and Commander) are backordered? Been that way more at least several monthes......the kit you ordered is the only ones available on their site and may be that way for quite some time

Here's the link to the closeout commander ones if anyone is interested: http://www.advantagearms.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AASOS&Category_Code=Specials

I did notice that but rereading I forgot to mention that. Im hoping the commander wont bother me tho. I dont go for tight groups mainly paper plates so 1.5" is ok by me. And for almost half off it can have FCS and a huge billboard on the side. haha. Its being shipped to Ca to meet me in my vacation so it will be 2 weeks before I see it, but Ill let you know how it goes

Agreed, at that price, you cant go wrong lol. And like I mentioned, Ive only been looking into them for a month or so, and that whole time every conversion they sell has been out-of-stock. Look forward to seeing it:rock:

Bear with me here on this lol.....Ive only been able to fire off 50 rounds in over a year because of schooling and other priorities, so Im rusty as all get out lol.

Yesterday the rain let up enough for me to get outside and tack a target up. This is only at 25 feet and man was it a sloppy group on my account:(. It was hitting high and to the right, so I looked at the rear sight and seen that someone had it cranked over to compensate for something they were likely doing. It was still lightly raining, so instead of adjusting the sight, I just adjusted my aim until I walked them in closer to center.

Once I knocked some of the rust of my trigger finger lol, found POI, and got to know her a little better, I finished off my box of ammo.

70rds of Remington Golden Bullet, 25 ft:

When I have the time and ammo handly, I'll dial that rear sight in and give you a better account of the conversion's performance. I noticed another thing too, because of how much lighter the 22 top end is, it exxagerates the not-so-crisp feel of my RIA factory trigger group hehe.

So with a 100 rounds through it, only had 1 failure to chamber, and I think it was the round, because I put it back in a mag and it did it again. Not to bad IMHO and I look forward to trying to wear this thing out haha.
