I guess I'll have to give verbal clues to you guys using Tapatalk :D

It looks like a 1911. It strips like a 1911. It operates *exactly* like a 1911.

It weighs 2.2 pounds empty. It comes with two single stack mags with base pads (similar to Wilson base pads) The trigger is about 2 pounds. It has a standard length guide rod. It has a checkered mainspring housing, with lanyard loop. It has a fully functional beavertail grip safety identical to a Wilson High Ride Grip Safety, and ambidextrous thumb safety identical to a Wilson Tactical Thumb Safety.. It has grips that look exactly like Pachmayr's Signature Wrap-Around grips, except the medallions say "WE"

It operates on a short recoil delayed blowback with barrel lugs identical to a 1911.

and...

It fires 6mm projectiles.

Oh I know... the WE gives it away. It's an airsoft. I got one but it's not full metal. I was tube feeding it propane and blew up the top end. I need to get another one. Full metal seems like a good idea.

Mine was set up like a race gun with a cheap dot sight on it. My daughter and I would set up foam blocks in the basement and race to see who could knock them over the fastest in the winter. Mumma got mad at us for stinking the house up with propane tho.

I was getting to the point where dry firing wasn't helping because I didn't know if I was on target. I need a lot of improvement on rapid target acquisition for IDPA. I've been having trouble getting to the range, so I looked for a 1911 BB gun or Pellet gun that I could use at home, but they were not realistic enough. They weren't blow-back and had a horrible trigger.

This thing is as realistic as you can possibly get. I was surprised to see that it actually uses a delayed blowback. just like a 1911. And I was also surprised at the beavertail grip safety - not only that it was functional, but it is nicely executed.

Many of the parts are a hair larger or smaller than on a 1911, I suppose to intentionally prevent interchanging parts. But it appears that many 1911 parts, like barrel bushing, mainspring housing, recoil plug, hammer, trigger, grip safety, and slide stop can be fitted to it without too much trouble.

I am going to order Hogue grips and a Colt arched mainspring housing for it so I can set it up exactly like my other 1911s.

The "Green Gas" can be used inside, there is practically no odor. I use propane outside and in the shop.

I was curious why the attention to detail. I mean, kids that get these things won't know beans about a real 1911, right?

Then I found out that there is an AAPS (American Airsoft Practical Shooting) and a USAPSA (United States Airsoft Practical Shootintg Association) that have USPSA style competitions!

One of the stated reasons for the organizations is to give people a way to train for USPSA without going bankrupt buying ammo.

I have upgraded the gas cylinder, put Hogue palmswell grips on it, fitted a Colt arched MSH on it, and now it's rockin!

can you post a link where you picked it up and what new gas cylinder you picked up for it?

I bought it at Airsoft Atlanta. They are primarily a mail order outfit, but have a showroom in Atlanta, so I drove up there to have a look-see before buying one. I also bought a propane adapter while I was there.

Here is their online link to the pistol (the description is incorrect, it is not a Caspian Hi-cap):

I got the gas cylinder upgrade from Evike:

Another big online store is Pyramyd Air
