Hey guys...I've gotten the itch to add a wheel gun to the mix - I can't stop getting 1911s and heres my chance ;) - I also took a walk down memory lane and was thinking about an old beretta I sold many moons ago and regretted getting rid of. I think I want a new M9 just to mix it up a bit but I digress... Nothing will ever replace my 1911s as my EDCs, but I want a little variety in the bag at the range. I am pretty set on S&W and have a few models in mind - going to be a 357 or 44 mag most likely. I'm also dead set on blued as well. My front runner is a classic model 29 in 4 or 6" but I went into my LGS today and was tempted by some other models. I'd like to hear about your favorite revolvers, why you think its the best and post up some pics. Help me get more confused as to what to get...LOL

Well, let's see. There's N frame (model 27's) in 3 1/2 and 5 inch barrels.
Cadillacs in the S&W line.

Same size as the Model 29. A pure pleasure to shoot.

You can even "gussy" them up a bit for marryin's and buryin's

There is also the model 28 Highway Patroman. Same gun as those above but with a matte blue finish and a lower price. Everybit as good a gun.
Then you got the K frames like Namvet72's and this one.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/Iggy25/KAhrends.jpg?t=1241980704

or a little fancier
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p246/Iggy25/Keith%20Holsters/PecosKframe-1.jpg?t=1300200575

Both of these are Model 19's and all are .357/38's
That should give you some food for thought.

Id have to go with the Python or a Redhawk, both are very good shootes. Of course the smith's a very classic looking and very good shooters themselves.

Post a pic of what you get!

If you're talking about doing some regular shooting, I would recommend the Model 27. I have a few Pythons and honestly I think they are smoother than the Smiths, but I'm just too afraid to get mine scratched up so they just help hold down the safe. But if you're talking about getting some shooting enjoyment of the gun, definitely go with the Smith.

Thanks for the post, Dave. Have been thinking very same thing. Sold a 4" Python about 6 Months ago and have had sellers remorse ever since. Was like handling a Ferrarri but I just kept in in the safe for 12 years. Sold it for $2,300 more than I paid for it but I'm over safe queens. At my age I want to enjoy shooting them.

Sold a 686 10 years ago and miss it too. So I'm asking same question. Forgetting Pythons, what's the best 4" revolver out there. Thinking 357 but wondering about the 45 ACP Smith is making. Any opinions?

Sorry if I stole your thread.

I know this may make me sound like a heretic but my favorite 'wheel' gun is a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt.231

I spotted a NICE (I can't for the life of me remember what model) older S&W .38 special in original cardboard box today at the LGS that I think I'm going to just have to have. I'll go a put it on layaway tomorrow...and take a couple pics for the brethren.

Don't get much use anymore, it's nice next to the bed for a back up. But for daily carry the V-bob is just so comfortable and easy to conceal. Just to nice a shooter to part with. GP-100 357 4"

If anyone posts a pic of a blued Model 19 with a 2 1/2 inch barrel, I'll be grateful. I love that gun and will own one some day.
