I got up this morning at 5:30 just to beat the heat???? hard to do when the low is 80! So at 7:00 am I head for the range. After a quick stop for coffee on wheels, I pulled in at 7:15 to unlock the gate, I only have an 8 mi. drive west to this range, I belong to another outdoor range and it is 7 Mi. to the south of me. This range faces west, and the one South of me faces to the East. So I am versatile!!
By the time I stapled my targets to the backers and got them hung I barely finished my coffee and It was 8:00 am, we have a combination to get in and it is unsupervised, you screw up and get caught, your gone! PERIOD! I know I am VERY FORTUNATE!! We have several neighbors within 1/4 Mile so we try to keep the peace and quite time is 9:00pm thru 8:00am.Here is a pic of the main range.

The longer range rifle benches are behind Bill a Buddie shooting with me today.

We also have handgun bunkers that aren't in the pic, they are behind the friends in the pic,

2 pistol bays for 25 yards max, and 3 bays for combat and action pistol. I shoot on the one in the first pic, I can shoot less than 25 if I want, but find if I practice mostly at 25 and once in a while at 50 yards, it doesn't look as impressive but when you shoot at 7 to 15 yards afterwards, it sure makes it easy to shoot nice little groups then.

I test and work up loads with open sight handguns at 25 yards, test all at 50 yards and 100 yards with scoped revolvers, and work up loads for the scoped guns at 50 yards.

So today I am going to shoot 250 rounds thru the new Dan Wesson Valor V-bob, 200 thru the Baer P II @ 25 and 50 yrds., 250 rounds thru both MK II Rugers 5 1/2" target and Competition 6 7/8", and about 80 - 100 thru the 5 1/2" .45 Colt Bisley, it and the the .22 autos mostly 50 to 100 yards, This is the menu this morning.

Well I had all I could stand at 11:30, and it just wasn't comfortable at 95 degrees so I rapped up and headed home. It was a pretty good morning for the first couple hours and had the 2 other guy's show up, but we all said see u, about 11:30, there will be better days. Besides I had enough to satisfy addiction for a day or 2, Monday is supposed to be much cooler and dry so I will make it till then.

The New Valor V-bob run 100% with WW-Personal Protection HP's, WW-Ranger 230 HP's, Home Brew 230 HP's, and some old Speer 200 grn, HP's flyin ashtrays! The Valor had one stovepipe at about 50 rounds the day before at 102 degrees I had just picked it up and was probably me!! Today proved it is capable of eating any PP ammo you feed it. The best group was around 2 1/2" and was shot with my homegrown 230 grain load powered by ww-231 powder, @ around 870 fps. The Les Bear performed as usual and with it's pet load of 4.2 grn. of 231 and a 200 grain self cast 200 grn SWC. The Rugers both just do whatever you ask out of them, and the single action shines out to 100 yards. I shoot 340 grain boolits I cast in my Bisley Hunter that shoot very mild, not in the little 5 1/2"er, what a little pit bull!!

So anyways it was a GOOD DAY!! Shot the Bull with good friends and tore up some paper and made dust fly, and both my 1911 continue to impress me!!cowboy

A new tool assured not to be a safe queen!!

Great day at the range Wildcatter! Those shade trees are a bonus. Nice variety of guns to shoot. I really like shooting clay birds at 100 yards with my MKII.
