Howdy Pards

Well, after a few months of design and work, they are finished.

These are New Ruger Vaqueros in 357/38 that started out at 5.5" guns.

The guns were given to my Pard Cowboy Gunsmith and the work started.
First the sights were removed, then they were cut to 3.5", the actions were not only tuned, but they were short stoked, front sight was reattached and sighted in as cut as needed at the range. Custom Brass caps were than attached to the front sights with a special epoxy (supplied by the make of the sight caps) and let dry fro 48 hrs.
They were then trimmed to the front sight.
Two sets of Real Sambar stag grips were added and we were ready to Almost go.
I than had the hammers jeweled, the Cylinder, pins, cylinder rod, ejector rod and shroud were all fail-zeroed.

The guns are fast, smoooooth and not bad looking......

Here they are:

Well Howdy Y'all

First off Pard's thanks for all of the nice comments on my shootin Irons.

The guns performed great (at least they did) it was a funny Saturday shoot at the Gunslingers and it went something like this.

We are always posse TWO.
We have some of the best shooters in the game in our posse and as you know when Mr. Murphy wants to play, you can not stop him.

Amaduelist (Jeff) was the first to shoot... he steps up to the line places his '73 Lever on the table and his double 12 next to it.
Steps over to the start point (we were pistols first) on this stage and at the Beep draws his first pistol and fires (so far so good) draws his send pistol and instead of BANG he hear's pop, tries it again, and again and again and again....yep, folks this years second place winner at the BIG match forgot to load his second pistol.....5 miss's..............

Warrdog (Dave) is up next...now Warrdog is a very fast shooter in the under 20sec time on almost most stages.....he starts with his pistols all go BANG and he is off and running...picks up the rifle and Bang, Bang, Bang, he JACK's out a round (miss 1) misses the next 2 and the rest go BANG but he forgot the sequence and picked up procedure call (10 sec) for it. now he is down 3 miss's and a procedure..we go onto the shotgun where he picks up a Minor Safety for moving his feet with a closed shot gun (10 sec) and hits the wrong target...Yep, Pard's when Mr Murphy wants to play he goes right for the........... He wound up with 4 miss's 1 procedure and 1 Minor Safety.......40 sec in all)

Kid Celero (Jack) is up next and he is shooting in the middle to high 20's on a standard .....he starts off with his pistols and miss's 2 plates and gets a procedure for shooting out of sequence...gets another 2 miss's for the '73 lever and worked his shot gun ok

And then came REDSTONE RIDER (yep, that is me)
By now , I am having a good time, but one should NEVER LAUGH , NEVER LAUGH during a match)
I get up there with my New Shooting Irons and go through the pistol stage right on and quick, I say to my self just two more "73 and my '97 (or did I forget to tell y'all that I have started to shooot a Winchester '97 REAL not a copy) built 1930 and set up for CAS shooting just about 2 weeks ago. Cut barrel to 18 1/4" and did a complete action job. Still has some blue and the wood is ok.. So I pick up the '73 lever and I am motoring through it when on the next to the last steel (that is right) I JACK one right out of the gun (1 Miss) I go to the '97 whicj I am still getting use to (loading that is) and As I am getting ready to shoot, I am called on moving my feet with a closed shotgun (a Minor Safety, 10 sec) and I did not even know that i moved them. I asked the spotters (3 of them) and they did not see it, but the TO (Timer Officer) said he saw it and that is alll that is needed.
Like I said NEVER LAUGH during a match especially if the person you are laughing at is the TO.

Also a good thing to remember:

IF YOU WANT FRIENDS AT A SHOOTING MATCH, YOU BETTER BRING THEM WITH YOU:D:D:D

Anyway the day got hotter, and humidity rose but when all was said and done we had a good time and we get to do it all over again this Saturday at our othet club.

So stay Safe
and as my friend John says (SHOOT FAST OR GO HOME)

That is my story and I am sticking to it
