i guess i need to get on my home computer and post some pics. i had a 29-3 pre lock with an 8 3/8in barrel. i sold it though to fund my Heritage i bought from Sarge. im not a fan of the longer barreled pistols. :( i would have kept it if it were a 4" or less.

Yes that blueing is pretty. My nickel has some finish marks from the display case deteriorating. I never was a real wheel gun guy until this one, had a Rossi because every one needs a 357. Then I shot a 27 and a python. Wow they used to make some really sweet looking sweet shooting pistols.

Here's my new to me S&W 29-3, 10 5/8" bbl, .44 Mag that my brother so generously gave me yesterday. He's had since it was new and he passed it down to me.
Now, I need to learn how to shoot, clean and maintain it. Right now, it makes a rattle noise around the grip/frame area when you hold it upside down and tip it back and forth. I took off the grips looked but saw nothing, is that normal?
By itself...
And with my unit patches and crests...
Does having a S&W redeem myself any for having the Kimber????
The rattle you are hearing is probably the hammer block and is perfectly normal.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/500magnumnut/500underthehood.jpg
It is the long piece with the loop at the bottom.
Here is an entire thread about it on another forum.

Thanks Dave. I carried that one for 13 years as a LEO. We've both got some scrapes and scars, but we earned them honorably.

Well thanks. I was raised on the classics and was fortunate enough to have an old man who also had very nice taste in guns. Im just starting my own collection now instead of borrowing Pop's guns. My collection isn't anywhere close to his, but I'm getting closer one gun at a time.
Getting anxious for my 627PC to come in tomorrow. I keep checking the tracking on it all night.

Here is an old shot of my M-66-3. My wife bought it for me when they reintroduced the 3" barrel on the Model 66.
I have shot it enough to have Scott Mulkerin of SDM tighten it up and bead blast it and do a few other minor things to it.
This has been my IDPA SSR gun. I carried it for years before switching over to my bottom fed 1911.

Here are some photos of my 627 Performance Center with the new Docter sight added. I used the J Point mount that fits the factory S&W rear sight and used the J Point adapter shim to mate the Docter sight with the J Point mount. I'm very pleased wit this sight. Very bright, very crisp, and very clear. It was easy to mount and get sighted in. It's so accurate that it's almost unfair....almost! Don't pay attention to the Goodyear grips. I've got the gun set up to run full house .357 loads for hunting this fall and the rubbers definitely help with the recoil.
