I want to let my friends in on a secret. I have been buying on ebay, these Chinese 7 led lights at various good prices, almost always under 50 bucks. They are extremely sturdy, amazingly bright lights that take the 18650 rechargeable batteries. I've never had anything so bright with strobe, SOS, etc.

I have one on nightstand and every car. I was in Intracoastal following buddy at high speed in offshore boats when it got dark recently. I could illuminate channel markers ahead of HIM easily, all with a light that's probably 6" long and 2.5 diameter. All aluminum, machined nicely. I don't see how they do it!

Everyone who sees them wants one.

I've probably bought and given away half a dozen. The last one where I was only bidder (36.99) shows nine thousand lumens. If it's half that it's fine with me. They are like laser beams, super bright.

The new weapon lights boast of 600 lumens.

I do an occasional search on ebay for US warehoused items, but have gone with Hong Kong a few times.

I keep a Fenix TK75 stashed away in my truck for emergencies. They are expensive lights, but worth every penny of it.

I've had several Fenix too. These are 1/4 the price and seem much brighter to me, they have 7 bulbs where the Fenix has 3. They are machined well with O rings and such.

Just a cheap alternative that I have never seen fail. Fenix is probably a better quality I would think.

I've always kept Streamlight Ultra Stingers. They must be underpowered at 120 lumens. I can't imagine 8500 lumens. My Coastal is only 240 lm... is this a "peak" type rating? it just doesn't seem possible..... just sayin....

I still keep a UltraStinger and a Stinger XTHP mounted in wall chargers in my house, probably been there at least ten years. The newer lights are just so much smaller and brighter it is amazing. I keep one Fenix PD35 in my truck console and one mounted on my AR. A PD32 UE stays on my desk, I keep an Eagtac T200C2 in my trailer. In a pinch my Streamlights would make fine whop sticks, remember the old Maglights we used to use!

I remember the Maglights, but the first was Kel-Light, originated by a cop in Cali. They had a model that took 7 D cells, I carried it around, all 2 feet of it!

I hear they are worth money now to collectors.

DF I don't know about the rating, I assume it's somewhat exaggerated. I do know I've never seen anything so bright. I bought two more today, there was a buy it now for 36.99.
