I bought this recently. After picking it up and inspecting it, I think it may be unfired except at the factory. The date is February 17, 2002. The pictures aren't that great, I don't have my light tent anymore.

Original box and all the paperwork and accessories including the plastic sleeve in which the gun was wrapped. I'm not sure any of that had ever been disturbed since coming from the factory.

I have a PTE-B as well which has the original DW "bubble" medallion grips. That gun is October 2003, so I suppose the grips became standard sometime between the two. I've seen three styles, two with flat medallions, one medallion being all gold like this one, and one with a dark background, then the "bubble" medallion. finally, the RZ-10 I have which does not have a "CZ" serial number but is dated 2006 which, I understand, is after the Dan Wesson was acquired had plain cocobolo grips which I believe are original.

It's interesting in terms of some discussions I've read regarding the roll marks and how they changed. The DW logo next to Patriot is as I have seen it on other guns, but with no cross. There is a cross in the patriot symbol. Also, the "Dan Wesson Firearms" mark and the Norwich, NY mark are on the dustcover and not on the frame near the grips as it is on my 2003. The latter looks much neater and less crowded.

Anyone know for certain at what distance the test target was taken?

The is a price written on the outside label which may be the price at which it sold in 2002, of $689.00. In inflation dollars that would come to $885 new today.

Really nice find. I wish I could buy a stack of them at that 2002 price!

It was a TYPICAL Dan Wesson. Tight, accurate, flawless! It's a joy to shoot.
