S&W 986 9mm

So Hello to all

What Have I been doing...well except for a heavy work load during the mid term elections and getting ready for next years Steel Challenge Nationals and in the Cowboy world, the Florida State siege, the Gold Coast two day and the Ides of March two day and loading about 2K -6K of ammo a week .....Not Much

The attached is my new wheel gun for the revolver section of the Nationals.

It started off as a new S&W 986 / 9mm 7 shot.

after about two week of inside work, it now has an Apex competition hammer, Apex extended firing pin, recut sear, rear sights from LPA (installed but on the next updated photo).
It has a HiViz .310 hight F.O. Green front.
Grips were made for me by Hogue and the extended cylinder release by Hogue.

It uses moon clips made by TX Industries.

Trigger pull is at 6.5#'s DA (only) and I use loads that are 9mm, Federal primer, 231 powder with 3.5 g.

Would you believe I drove 426 miles one way to shoot with this guy and he didn't even bring this toy to show me. But he did get lunch.

Looks great and i'm sure it shoots better than it looks.

How does that calender release work? It looks like a lever you push down like a slide release but I always thought revolvers cylender release by pushing forward.

It just replaces the original cylinder release and to PUSH it forward and the cylinder opens....It is designed for faster reloads..It comes in two sizes...I like the shorter one and the longer one extends back near the hammer.

This gun is a true please to shoot during steel challenge but I had to turn down the load to a softer load that will still take down some steel and not beat up my hands so much (one of the problems of getting older)
