CZ P-07 Review to follow

So my son was at Cabela's Saturday and started texting me pictures of pistols he was thinking about getting... Basically, he wanted to buy a first carry pistol. Here's how it went...

I know, right! Why are first-time buyers so drawn to them like magnets?

Great choice!
I was at the range with my wife and a friend with his wife. He had bought his wife a Beretta PX4 Storm and she couldn't hit squat with it. Then he pulled out his new gun - P-07. Everybody that picked it up shot like a pro with it, including his wife. That was the first plastic magic gun I believe I could love. It's like it pointed itself for you. I couldn't miss and my wife couldn't miss. Trigger was really really good.

I agree Jim, the single-action trigger was really good. The double-action triger was not bad either. Not too heavy but enough that it felt safe for carrying. It was very accurate. I fired 3 shots on a target with it around 15 yards. Over all I'm impressed. I give it a thumbs up. I would buy one.

I like looking at them. Feeling ok about talking him out of it though. He was never much of a pistol shooter as a kid and much-preferred rifles. In my opinion, carrying a 1911 is not ideal for someone that has not shot the platform a lot. What do you suggest to people that don't shoot a lot and want to buy a carry pistol? I expect you get asked a lot.

I would agree that the 1911 platform is best reserved to those who have had a lot of experience. It is my choice, but I've got 40 + years with the 1911. And i do shoot alot!

What carry gun for people that don't shoot a lot? My suggestions would include a Glock 19, The M&P Ezy, and possibly the new SCCY DVG-1 with factory Red Dot. I include the SCCY because it is $299 with iron sights and $399 with red dot. vs. about $600 for a glock in today's market. Taurus also has the new (I think G4) I had a G2 and it was reliable and carryable (is that a word?)

Just my 2 cents...
Michael
