Iwo Jima Monument
We were visiting my daughter for the week in Arlington, VA. She lives about 2 1/2 miles from the "Iwo Jima Monument" which is what she calls it. Really it is the "United States Marine Corps War Memorial" which has a statue of the famous second raising of the flag on Mount Surabachi.
She took me there on Thursday. It was completely renovated starting in 2015 and finished just last year (2018). It looks brand spanking new! At the end of the post is a video of walking around the statue from the back to the front. Watch the flagpole, you get the illusion of the flagpole being erected as you walk to the front. And of course since she is a millennial, we had to take the obligatory selfie... https://i.imgur.com/UBPeLt1.png https://i.imgur.com/Zxwzg5n.png https://i.imgur.com/P4zjeuo.png https://i.imgur.com/f2Hdox0.png https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUw5IJKPvTE http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=888 |

Thanks for sharing! Your daughter is absolutely beautiful, and you have about as much facial hair as my great aunt had in her 70's. Hated having to give her a kiss on the cheek! ROFL

Thanks for sharing. Hope to see it for myself some day. I'm old and ornery no selfies. Just wait... The wife will start to forego the compliments and just toss barbs. At least mine remembers where the line is, though she likes to push it now and then.
