Ok

We have had the discussion of Crappy Brass, which load and what primers.

Trail Boss, because it seems to work best with mild cast bullets, completely fills up the case, and at max loads burns super clean.

45 ACP (230 gr RN)
45 Colt (255 gr SWC)
44 Spl (240 gr SWC)
454 Casull (255 gr SWC)
45-70 (400 gr FN)

HP-38 was my go-to powder at one time (same thing as W231) One thing I liked about it was that I had the exact same charge for 45 ACP and 9mm, so I didn't have to adjust the charge bar when changing between those calibers. And at the time, those were the only two pistol calibers I reloaded.

When I started using cast bullets, I tried to use the HP-38, but the leading was awful. Wrong pressure curve for cast.

same here, it was avail here for a long time so I bought about 15lbs. Now its all I use because I have it and it works with the 45 well. The 10mm its not the best for but it gets the job done.

I use Winchester 231 for 9MM, 38 Super, 40S&W, 10MM and 45ACP.

I use Winchester 296 for 30 Carbine, 44 Magnum, 357 AMP, 41 JMP and 44 AMP.

Why..............because I have about 30 pounds of each and it works for me!!!:)
