So, jaywalking is against law yet how it gets applied and the punishment is discretionary. Prior to it becoming a law... Now that it is a law depending on the official observer, you can be charged with jaywalking, creating a traffic hazard to public endangerment.
To put it bluntly, under this bill, what you did for your SIL opens the door for felony prosecution on both of you. This depending on your local jurisdiction and the pressure applied by the new Att/Gen "Jackass" and I'm sure you've read about him...
If they can pass enough of these innocuous little bills through and then get someone to reinterpret them, all of a sudden they have a weapon to use against you.
