Doc, I gather you were assigned to some of the Marine units that were "on ground" in Nam or were you assigned to a ship off shore? I'm just curious as to what the emphasis was for Navy Corpsmen... to be with the ground force Marine units on front lines, or "in the rear" ground support (i.e. battalion aide, or FOBs) or was it strictly off-shore support on a ship? Of course, the Army had medics accompany ground units right onto the perimeters, front lines, etc.. I just wondered if the Navy expected its corpsmen to do the same for Marine units.

That said, thank you for your service, no matter where you did it.
