I don't know anything regarding IDPA competition, so I'm really of no help.

But I will ask/say this regarding your set up.

1) The quad mag pouch looks bulky and uninviting. Couldn't you use 2 double mag pouches, side by side like what's used for USPSA? For me, I could see myself grabbing 2 mags instead of 1 because of how close they are located together. Also, in IDPA, aren't you required to put the empty mag back into the mag pouch when doing mag changes? Or can you just use your pocket? In USPSA, they dump them on the ground.

2) Regarding the RO's naked front strap, you may want to look into the following products to enhance your grip. Wilson Combat makes a "drop in" checkered front strap that is held in place by the grips. People as also known to use skateboard tape/traction tape that you can find at Home Depot for next to nothing.
