Default VN Wall Rubbings

Hello ,

A rubbing of a name etched on The Wall is more than a piece of paper. It’s a handmade heirloom capable of connecting you with the mothers, fathers, siblings, or friends in your life who made the ultimate sacrifice.

My own father, Lieutenant Colonel William L. Deane, went missing in action in 1973 when his Huey crashed in Quang Tri province. At my desk, there’s a rubbing of his name taken from The Wall. Every time I look at it, I feel a deeply personal connection to my dad. And thanks to a service provided by VVMF’s amazing volunteers, you can receive a rubbing in the mail and feel that connection for yourself.

It only takes a minute to get a rubbing from The Wall — all you need to do is provide a name.

I’ve never met a more passionate group of volunteers than those who work at The Wall. Every week, they head to the National Mall here in Washington, carry out requests for rubbings from all over the country, and send them out with special care. Often, they even add personal notes of condolence or remembrance.

Sure, it takes a little bit of time, but our volunteers are proud to help remember the names on The Wall — it’s what this community is all about.

If you’d like a rubbing of a name on The Wall, make your request today, and we’ll have it to you as soon as we can:

Thank you,

P.S. If you know someone else who may want a name rubbing, please forward this email along. It could really make their day.
