This could possibly turn into a sticky.

I got the Harbor Freight drill Press, where we are moving to would be a bit of a drive to HF so one more box to take up. Only thing left is really the 1/4" endmill and a stop collar as I have some good drill bits or can get those easily enough. I have seen mentioned that WD40 works for cutting fluid, can anyone confirm this? I wouldn't mind ordering it and having the endmill when we get up there. My wife has training in Dallas for a week for the new job so I would have some time to mill it without bothering her.

I will put a new thread up when I actually start the steps. If anyone has any suggestions for the endmill I would love to hear them.

You shouldn't actually need cutting fluid for aluminum. But, yes, wd40 would work as cutting fluid...it's basically fish oil. I have also used Canola oil, but you have to clean it up before it gets gummy which happens pretty quickly.

Just buy cutting oil, I doubt it's that much more than wd40. But, wd40 will work if that's all you have.

Bought the end mill.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/84...m-1-4-end-mill

All the others I linked to earlier had shipping charges $10 and up. Pretty outrageous for a couple bits that would fit in a Mylar mailer.

I have some pretty good drill bits so I only need to pick up the drill stops and I will have all the tools. Now just need to finish our move and I will get a full list of tools and pics on the process.

I'm going to but haven't pulled the trigger on one just yet though. I have access to a Bridgeport mill anytime I want so just figuring which setup (jig) would be best for me, I want/need to be able to do more than 1 lower.
They make kits to do pistol frames (1911/g lock) too.

Why on earth do you need a jig if you have access to a Bridgeport? A little bit of measuring and turning the machine's handwheels is all you need. Jigs are for people who don't have milling machines.
