Default M&P9's; a Comparison

I currently own three M&P's; a 7/07 '9, a 7/13 '9, and a 7/13 9c.

I've measured the trigger pull weights of all with a Lyman Digital scale, and the weights listed below are an average of four trigger pulls each.

2007 M&P9; bone stock - Trigger Pull of 5lbs, 8.1ozs.

2013 M&P9; Apex Tactical Competition Action Enhancement Kit installed - Trigger Pull of 2lbs, 7.3ozs.

2013 M&P9c; Apex Tactical Hard Sear and Ultimate Striker Block installed - Trigger Pull of 3lbs, 10.5ozs.

The '07 M&P9 was bought in July of '07 and has had many, many thousands of rounds put through it.

The '13 M&P9 was bought in October of '13 and has had a least a couple thousand rounds put through it, including a lot over Brownie's two day TFP class in Volusia this past November.

I installed a W/C barrel in it four or five months ago, and it's been superb.

The '13 M&P9c was bought in July of '14, has been used in several IDPA practices, and has over a thousand rounds through it now. It also has a W/C barrel installed, since about a week after I put one in the FS M&P.

As you can see; the Apex Tactical parts do much more to improve the stock trigger pull than years of shooting will do, and the resets are improved dramatically, as well.

The only pics I've taken of any of my M&P's is one of the 9c with the reload mag; a FS 17 round mag with an X-Grip:

My wife put a few rounds through the M&P9C in November. She really liked it. Rick let her try it out since she is considering the 9C for carry.

She carries the Bodyguard 380 now.

I've since added to my pack of M&P's:

A 12/13 M&P9 I bought from Flphotog, and a no safety Shield9 I bought a couple of months ago.

I put an Apex hard sear and ultimate striker block in the new FS, while retaining the stock striker and trigger return springs, as I intend to use it for carry; trigger pull of 3 3/4 pounds.

The Shield is still bone stock, and may very well remain that way; time will tell.

Howdy & a Happy Holidays to all

Have been a little busy with concerts (JingleBall and a like) and the Political folks.
Have had a little time for ICORE competition and some local cowboy shooting.
and I will be in St Augustine in the first week of Jan 2016 at the Fla State Cowboy Championship (photos will follow) and it should be fun.
Well, back to shooting……..
Yep, I have been shooting and M&P Ported CORE 4.25" with a C-More STS on top in Steel Challenge (I try to shoot Sundays)
Did a little work on it with a Full APEX Flat face forward trigger system and have it at a nice smooth 2.8#'s. (and after 2500 rd's of 147g 9mm it is still holding at 2.8#'s)
I have also now added a Full Length SS guide rod with a 13# ISMI spring.
that travels the full length under the barrel.
I also added a Shield to my carry group (after I won one at a match)……nice gun, under cut the trigger guard, added Talon rubber grips, changed the sights to a FO front and Black out rear and the put in one of APEX New FFTrigger for the shield (this is not the same size as the FS trigger set). I left all other trigger parts alone (carry gun, mostly in my pocket and loaded with LIBERTY 9mm Non-Lead bullets. Drops the weight of the package with much less recoil.
Now that I will be signing up for the Steel Challenge Nationals, I picked up a second M&P CORE (non-Ported) Sunday at the local gun show. I have a C-More STS on the way for it and an Apex FFTrigger package also on the way. Need a back-up in my bag for the Nationals.

My M&P PORTED CORE before Apex trigger set up

And yes, I still shoot Glocks and build Glocks and I have started to use the New Apex Triggers in them (very nice trigger)

My load you ask…..
147g Hi-Tec bullet with 3.5g of TightGroup with Federal Primers.

Well got to go to work getting ready for next weeks Orange Bowl Semi-final playoff game and team arrival & practice.

Right that is how it comes from the PC at S&W. But when you put in the Apex kit, you no longer need the screw and you remove it. I will get an updated photo later for all to see.
