Default Fun, Fun on the Range

My wife and I took the Valor and her new P22 to the range for a function test this morning. Had lots of fun in a short time. I shot 100 rounds of some Aguilla and S&B 230gr ammo. The trigger was perfect. Even my wife loved shooting it. It's just a little heavy for her.

There were no failure of any type. There was one time that that the slide didn't lock back on an empty mag but it shot well. The two mags that came with the gun were very stiff. The two Mac-Gar mags I bought weren't as hard to load and all worked well.

Overall, it is great. Lori wishes that it was so heavy. She was shooting holes through holes. There was a couple beside us who was amazed at how well she was shooting that big gun. The wife was just shooting 22. She couldn't believe the size of the holes in the paper.

Picture time. I'm not a great marksman so forgive the flyers.

I was aiming at the letter under the top hole. Lori showed off with the 22 and put a tiny hole in between my rounds.

About Two Inches.

Very awesome Andy. Good shooting Lori. I'm not familiar with Valor. Is that the brand? If so is it a well-regarded one? Glad to hear the gun function as expected and that the trigger was great.

Valor is a model of Dan Wesson 1911, regarded as their "flagship" pistol.

Good times, Andy....Happy your new Valor ran perfect. I have mags that don't always lock the slide back....I use it to heighten my awareness to my round count on the range. Shooting in the AM on a day of work, with your wife, both with new pistols.....life is grand!

Those are great groups, you guys are sharpshooters!

Is it me or does that target make it look like the bullets are keyholing?

Maybe, but the cuts look pretty uniform around the whole so it could be a cheaper cut of paper or if he was only standing 4 feet away that would explain that too. What kind of bullets may do that too....I would not be too concerned if the shots and groups are that good.

I was at five yards. It may be the paper. It was pretty thin.

Thanks Andy. Nice report, nice shooting and a great day. Next trip rent Lori a DW ECO to try. She will love it in 9MM. It is her size and if it shoots for her as it does for me she will force you to sharpen up even more to keep up. It is a great little gun and a serious self defense piece for anyone. I like a cardboard backer with paper targets to avoid the tearing of the target paper. I am cheap so I use painters masking tape to cover holes from one exercise or gun to the next rather than burn up more targets.
