I think I would be VERY tempted to clean it up! But that's just me...

I'd want to see it in brand spanking new condition. I don't really consider wax and cosmoline part of the "original" condition. Something like a coat of Mobil1 to make it look all shiny and new.

Caked cosmoline just turns me off.

I agree. When I was reading this post earlier today I was thinking along the same line.
