Default 1911 Project

I wanted an Ed Brown Lightweight Kobra Carry but didn't want it 3K worth. lol so I decided to make one.
I purchased a new Colt XSE Lightweight Commander (100 years of service model) and did a bobtail on it, next is off to the smith for some machining and a trigger job.
I replaced the ambi thumb safety with an Ed Brown left side only extended thumb safety which I will work down to were I want it. The slide lock lever has been replaced with a 10-8 model.
I have a Titanium mainspring cap and hammer strut on order as well as an EGW Ultimate Trigger Kit and the smith is going to install Fusion carbon fiber & Titanium trigger.

Here is the gun as purchased.

Prepared for the bobtail

New pin hole drilled and Ed Brown bobtail mains spring housing installed.

Roughed to shape.

After the hand filing & sanding

Finished Bobtail

More pics after it returns from the smith.

Hay John,

Looking good.

Are you going to have the front strap and the MSH done up? what treatment?

Greg

I like where you are going with this... when it's all done, what do you think you'll be into it?

Greg yes I am getting the front strap and mainspring housing done but it's a treatment that most have probably not seen, you'll have to wait for the pictures though.

Lane, rough figures right around 2K and that includes buying the Colt new.
