Default my new Valor

well, i received my Valor on the 7th from Budsgunshop.com. this is my first firearm, and i'm quite pleased with my purchase. i took it to the range yesterday and sent 50 rounds of Winchester 230gr FMJ down range. it was a blast! i'm embarrassed to say that i was concentrating on "feeling" the Valor fire than on actually aiming. needless to say, i made use of the complete surface of the target. perhaps starting out at 25 yards was a little too ambitious of me.

the only trouble i had was on the first round when i loaded the stock Check-Mate magazine with 8 rounds. i only tried 8 once, and when it failed to feed, i only loaded the magazines with 7 rounds. i read somewhere that the magazines themselves might need a break-in period to feed 8 rounds reliably. we'll see in time. other than that, everything was flawless!

when i got home from the range, there was a small box from Nighthawk Custom. i had ordered their stainless "relief cut" guide rod. perhaps for nothing more than peace of mind.

it was intimidating field stripping the firearm the first few times because i've read so much about the infamous "idiot scratch," but it was nice to see that there was a relief cut on the slide stop of the Valor; making it easy to get the slide stop pushed back into place. i'm very happy with my Valor. cowboy

Very nice Hollywood.

You may want to start out a little closer for your first time.

But as long as your having fun and getting to know your new Valor, thats all that matters. I hope the wife is joining you.

Happy shooting.

Greg

the Valor gets no love from the missus just yet. perhaps she just doesn't fancy the Valor? perhaps i'm going to need to broaden my Dan Wesson collection until i find the model that clicks with her? oh the things we do for love...
