Default Range Report on the SCAR

Ok, finally got to go to the range with the FN SCAR 17S I bought from a friend. We took 10 boxes of ammo to see what this gun likes. I realize there’s a huge amount of ammo for the .308 out there, unfortunately it would take a lot of searching locally to find more brands to try. I was in a hurry so didn’t do much searching.
These are the 5 comparison’s I did; 2 boxes of each brand, all in 168 gr. but I want to try different loads as I get a chance.

Winchester 168gr Supreme Match
Fiocchi 168gr Exacta Rifle Match
Remington 168gr Premier Match
Blackhills 168gr Match
Norma 168gr Diamond Line
I mounted a Nightforce 1-4X24 NXS scope for half the shots and
I mounted an EOTech 517.A65 HOLOgraphic sight for the other half.
All targets were after sighting in the scope or Holo. I ran out of targets, so was using any targets I could find.
The gun was great to shoot, easy to point and with the stock adjustments it doesn't have killer recoil. To me, a lot different than my AR.
The gun seems to like any 168 gr ammo you put thru it. I don't think I could afford to buy one of these new but the price was right as used and I knew the owner.

Groups were shot at 100 yds and 200 yds.
This was sight-in target at 100 yds

100 yds NF scope after several runs, best target.

200 yds NF scope after several runs, best target.

100 yds Eotech, best target

Big brother shooting @ 100 yds w/ NF scope:
darn, he's good!
I'm not very good at the 200 yd. mark but the other guys were just coming in to their range at that distance.
This was a 100 yd shot w/Eotech (but not me shooting)

This was a fun range day, can't show pictures of the range or shooters but got to shoot their toys, including HK 416's suppressed, M 16, M14 CQB, Savage 338 Lapua Mag.

I just love it when a plan comes together. The 2.5x10 is just about the same size as the 1x4. but if you already have the 1x4........... Glad you liked it.

I think you need to buy me a new keyboard... my excess drool has caused electronic problems. Great SCAR

Ah yes, the SCAR Heavy (drool...). My local shop has one just like it for a meager $3000ish.

That's a seriously cool gun!

This is a photo compare of my FN vs one of my AR's. The FN is .308, the AR is 5.56/.223. . . both have 16.5" barrels. The main difference is the FN is threaded with screw-on flash hider, the AR has pinned/welded flash hider, 14.5 " barrel+ 2" FH.
