Never had the GP100, but had it's predecessor, the Security Six, and wish I still had it. Built like a tank

My FIL has a GP100, or it might be a 101. Great gun, his is SS and a 6 or 8" barrel. Fun gun to shoot, .357 is nasty round the .38 is a great practice round for the gun. He likes it, I have shot it more than a dozen times cuz its fun to shoot. He has the rubber grips on his to take some of the shock from the recoil. Not super pretty looking on the gun but does the job, I think the wooden grips look much nicer on it. I don't think you will not like it. Fun gun!

Late to the thread but I have two GP100s and love them both. One is a 4" blued, triggered sweety that I keep .38spl JHPs in for the night stand. The other is a 6" barrel SS that I've done trigger work to. Single action has ZERO take up and has a 3 # break.

Both are tanks, sweeties, will keep them both. Very nice pistols.

I bought my Xs ruger 100. She bought a s&w instead who's trigger was not a smooth as the ruger out of the box. The ruger IS a tank, it will shoot the hottest load. I wish they would make the shrouded small revolver in steel and aluminum like s&w. It would be better IMO.
