I just ask because I may (one day soon) put a Fiber Optic front sight on my full size DW Heritage since it's more of a range gun / Target gun.

And did you install it yourself? If so did you use a sight pusher?

Thanks,

Hey Ryan,

The Valor is my main USPSA and IDPA gun, and I like the FO sight for those purposes. My defensive guns have tritium night sights. For me, the main advantages are quicker front sight focus and transitions to the next target. For more difficult targets that require a deliberate followthrough, I don't think the FO helps much if at all.

Interestingly, I find that I like having the small dot on the Heinie rear sight.

I did install it myself, using the included aluminum punch, and a file. My Valor has a pretty tight taper, and I had to do quite a bit of filing, trying, and filing again.

Nice well thanks for posting and responding. I have been thinking of getting into some IDPA if I can find when and where they have them in the Kansas City area.
I might try an FO front sight on my Heritage and see how I like it.

Yea I would probably do the installation myself the same way you did - file and tap...etc I know sight pusher tools are real popular with sig's and Glocks...etc but truthfully I am not sure if anyone really uses them on there 1911's.

Anyways thanks for the post.
