Fancy little knife. I like how small it is.

Default Knife of the Day, Day 16

Jack Mosher "Scagel Style" fixed blade stag handled knife with a folder knife in the handle! Although a very interesting design and execution using the folding blade has it's challenges!

A gun is a tool, no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Default Day 17 - Jim Downs Skinner

I bought this knife at a discounted price because of the bolsters had some rub marks on it; so what to do? Jim recommended Harry Limings Jr. an outstanding engraver. The pins are 1/16th diameter; Harry also engraved them!

Here is my knife of the day. A chef's knife to end all chef's knives.

Well, first let me show you what it looked like in the beginning...a power hacksaw blade (with tungsten carbide teeth), and a honey locust log.

And here is what it FINALLY looked like today. I'm embarrassed to tell you how long I've been working on this dang thing...or how much it cost me to make... The straighter part of the edge is tungsten carbide...didn't I tell you this was a chef's knife to end all chef's knives?

Default Day 18 Fred Rowe

Nice feather pattern Damascus Dagger by Ohio Maker Fred Rowe. I asked Fred to make a boot dagger for me; this is what he did for me! Well played by Fred.

Hours? I wish! You mean how many months!

I've made knives before, but there were several aspects of the process I was never satisfied with. This project was to work out a better process and find out what equipment was required to do it right without having to buy a milling machine. Lot's of trial and error, emphasis on error. And numerous trips to Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Lowes...and numerous orders from Amazon and Ebay.
