Well, that's "Sportsmanship" for ya
Blue Lives Matter - Sheriff Fires Deputy For Beating Him In Election
Apparently, the incumbent Sheriff was defeated by one of his deputies. And since no one was on the democratic ballot for the office, this deputy will become Sheriff in 6 months. But, as of today, he is out of a job. The Sheriff he defeated fired him one day after the election! I hope this deputy can work out a deal with the city council to stay employed with the city so he can keep his pension and all those other things he would lose if he were terminated, permanently. |

Yeah this has been just crazy. So in SD we have a law called right to work where you can be fired from a job at anytime for any reason. Usually doesn't work out like this but the Sherriff who did the firing didn't break any laws except for being a jack ass.
However last I knew the County Commission was working on hiring him back and such. today I know the dispatch and office of the county has been just crushed with calls from all over the US...this is a crazy story. I will keep you posted how it turns out.

UPDATE: Well he is out of a job until January...Nothing the county can do actually. No laws are broken and they cant require him be rehired.
From what I now understand the county is looking for a job for him to do like at on a road crew or maintenance type deal for the 6 months between. Really a bad deal.

But, at least, he'll be able to keep his pension going as well as his health care plan for his family, etc. etc. Those are pretty important. |

If I owned a local company there, I'd hire him as a security guard in a heartbeat. I mean, he's gonna be Sheriff for cryin' out loud. Why not score some Brownie points?

I would as well, but it's the county that has to offer him something so he can keep his pension going as well as his healthcare plan. He has his family to think of. |

The hope is to keep his benefits and such. 5 months is a long time to be out of work. Sad thing is in that county there is not much for work for a LEO.
this is just a dumb situation!
