Hey Iggy, thanks again for the lead decoding the serial #. I ended up chatting with a guy from the S&W forum site and he says that mine was made in 1983, the first year, and early at that, Woohoo. Anyway, I plan to take it out on my birthday and send my presents down range. Also, I got a new MSH for the 45 and have been itching to try that out too.

, you have a gem and you absolutely stole it at that price. The only thing I have to add to what has already been said is with respect to choice of ammo. There is a lot written about continuous use of any ammo less than 158gr cracking the forcing cone and S&W no longer makes replacement barrels for the K frame. Do a search over at thehighroad.org for more info.
