NRA Disallows 1911s As “Primary Handguns” From Its “Carry Guard” Classes

See story here-----> http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...kly+Newsletter

I can understand the reasoning for not allowing revolvers but, the 1911? Wtf, it's a semi-auto class.

The only things I can think of might be:

1) Trigger Control Issues - the 1911 being a much easier trigger pull and the resultant issues with that (i.e. people firing when they shouldn't or don't want to)... Maybe they want to teach trigger control a little differently...

2) While a 1911's capacity is larger than a comparable revolver, it's still not as good as a comparable Glock/Sig, etc. which can get 17+ rounds in one mag.

3) Drawing - Maybe they have some stats about AD's when people not skilled in 1911's try to draw in "condition 0"

That makes a little sense but, this training is for people who carry. So, if you carry a 1911, you should train with said 1911. Just my $0.03

The Carry Gaurd Program is thier insurance and training program. I wonder if the insurance part has anything to do with the decision..??..

Fair enough... but I'm guessing that they're anticipating more people who carry but "aren't" trained at all or not proficiently trained in their EDC...
