View Full Version : One for me

As I mentioned in my other post, I've made a bucket load of COTEP holsters over the last two years, and the other day, I realized that I've never made one for me. I have a couple I use, but they are prototypes or rejects/seconds/flaws. I decided that my Wiley Clapp Commander needed a new home. So, I made some tweaks to the OWB holster with Snap loops. Directional snaps, and an air brush, two-tone dye. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out:

Without the gun:

and from the back:

I have no intention of being selfish with this one - if anyone else want's one, I can make more. The finish is a bit more labor intensive, so I'll probably charge a bit more than the normal COTEP holsters.

Thanks again to my COTEP family - without you, this would never have been possible.

Are the T nuts exposed on the snaps?

I really like the look of that holster.

Nope. In fact no T-nuts were harmed in the production of this holster. I rivet the snap to the top piece before I line it or glue it together. Took a couple of tries to get it in the right spot. This one carries the gun a bit higher than the original COTEP OWB. I can sit in the car without it digging into the seat (worn at about 3:30).

You have not stamped your name/trademark/makersmark on it yet?

Yeah, you noticed that. Now that it's got the finish on it, the stamp doesn't work. So, I guess that make this one a second as well.

Nuts.

This holster is sounding better and better. Been looking for a OWB looks like this is a contender.

Nice holster, have you figured what the cost of one would be yet and when will you be taking orders?

It's available to order now. I set the base price at $80, with $5 for adding the two tone dye and $10 for lining.

Which begs the question - based on what others are seeing, are my prices fair? Too high? Low?

A custom made holster for under $100, are you kidding? More than a fair price.

I was the victim (I mean recipient of his first snap holster design). He made significant improvements over the prototype and I received a second one of the improved version. It is a great holster!

His new and more improved model looks absolutely fantastic. You cannot go wrong with it and will be very happy with it.

Thanks again Lane

I've been looking real hard at those holsters for a while, I might just have to have one. :) Mike
