Never really paid any attention when he was Gov...
Well, yeah, in modern times it has become associated with racism. To say otherwise would be naive, regardless of original meanings. Much as the Gadsden Flag, in present day America, has become a symbol of the Tea Party.

He was a very good Governor, left us in great financial condition. His failure is Common Core, but that is being slowly torn down.
