It's hard calling him a dog. This man was 100% pure bad ass.

RIP Barry. Barry has his own display at the UDT-SEAL Museum. He was a regular at the museum until fairly recent, but was unable to make his regular visits in the past year. His exploits are legend and I have no doubt he will get the send off he deserved and earned among his SOF brothers

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry, a Belgian Malinois who holds the distinction of being Naval Special Warfare Group Two’s “first dog". Barry passed away this morning.

Barry served with Navy SEALs in Iraq for three years and participated in over 225 combat missions. He is credited with NSWG2’s largest explosive find including 125 pounds of homemade explosives, 75 feet of detonation cord, 50 blasting caps and 2 hand grenades.

Barry’s personal items, including his collar, muzzle and harness were donated to the Museum by Barry’s handler and help tell the story of the incredible training, courage and dedication that these heroic canines possess.

In June of 2016, we were fortunate to have Barry and his family visit the Museum. During the visit he was greeted by crowds from near and far.

My sincere condolences. I'm sure he served this country with total distinction. May he have his place among those on eternal duty.
