I found a pretty good deal on some Black Hills ammo in different weights to see what the accuracy difference would be and the 68 grain says that a 1 in 10 twist is best for accuracy and that 75 to 77 grain uses a 1 in 8 twist for best accuracy.I haven't seen many ar's with a 1 in 10 twist,is it very common?I have a 1 in 8 twist 18" barrel so their suggestion would be 77 grain bullets. What are your experiences?

I have a Bushmaster with a 1/9 twist and have been using Federal 55gr.

After learning that twist is better for heavier rounds i will go to the 60-70 gr rounds.

Might be a better round for hog hunts.

Man... I knew I read a decent article on this somewhere recently. Maybe it's in this months American Rifleman. I'll see if I can find it. In the meantime, here's a good web article on the subject.

Thanks DaFadda, that was very informative!I planned on going out today to experiment with different weights but the wind is blowing 30-40mph.Not very condusive to accuracy with light bullets.

Thanks for posting that link, Fadda. It's very timely for me, since I just bought a CZ527 Varmint in .223 Rem. I'm prepping brass like a mad man, and the info in that article will give me some good starting loads to try when I get my rifle out of jail (Kalifornia has a 10 day waiting period).
