April 09 I bought my first DW 1911 was looking for information about it.
Joined the 1911 forum went to DW section. Asked a bunch of questions. And a Good Friend and Moderator on there and Master Gun Smith Dave Severns answered most of them for me.

I noticed them talking about COTEP I asked what it was was told what it stood for and that you have to own a DW and listen to some old rock singer I forget his name Sorry.

Then about May I asked Dave and all the members about making cards. Which most of it was done on my own dime. But alot of people chipped in a few bucks. Then the owner got mad because that is all we would talk about so he gave us our own section of the forum.

I made cards up until I got divorced and my ex destroyed my laptop and computer. Salvaged part of the database other bit the bullet. Sorry haven't made cards in awhile yes people have asked about them. To much medical things going but plan to try to get caught up while recuperating.

Then Bad Oscar bought this sight and asked me to Moderate it and add people. Which I did.

I miss alot of the Old Guys. But must say the FCC guys turned out to be a Good Bunch and ladies too.

My COTEP history in a nutshell.

I had never envisioned liking a 1911, but after the resurgence it seemed like every gun rag had a 1911 on the cover every month, so I decided to see what the fuss was about. About all I knew about them was what the haters said.

Soooo.... I bought a "vintage" DW Panther at a pawn shop for $500. Knew nothing about DW 1911s - I had only heard about the revolvers.

The old beat up pistol ran like a Swiss watch. And was an absolute joy to shoot. It was the first handgun I had ever owned that I could actually shoot accurately without even trying, and enjoy shooting to boot. So I got online and started searching for information about it which is how I ran across the DW section on the "Big Board."

There I discovered it wasn't just me...there were OTHERS...

And the rest, as they say, is history...

Got hooked on the DW forum and wound up picking up #37 of 150 Razorback from another member (first DW), then a PM9, V-Bob, Guardian...

Nice thread.

My first 1911 was purchased from a friend and it was a Kimber Custom Stainless Target ll (long name, lol). After that purchase I knew I was hooked and started to look on a couple of 1911 forums for knowledge. I spent a couple of years just lurking and learning. I met pig on another forum and after a while he invited me to COTEP. The rest is history recorded on this forum.

Same here, usually when you venture from COTEP you'll get the crap, the 'tin foilers' and the one's who post crap just to get the 'easy ones' sucked in.

Hey!! Wait a minute, are you accusing me of wearing a tin foil hat??
Dispensing crap is half the fun around here and I know when to poke the MIM-Monster and when to leave him alone. screwing with da pig and doughnut boy is fun. Besides, tinfoil makes my teeth hurt and I can't get the voices outta my head with that thing on..

At the time I came over from the big forum, in the first wave, I owned a DW Patriot Marksman Stainless. Clyde and Pig tell me I am one of the founding members but I don't have that neat Icon with my name. Since I came over I purchased a stainless CBOB from Bob, with a custom serial number since the advertised pistol was sold twice. I had fairly significant issues with the external extractor pistol that after some cuss fights, after Bob left, a few hundred dollars of fedex and exchanges of cash the mother ship finally broke down and fitted an internal extractor slide. Pistol runs great now. In fact it is on my hip now in an Alessi CQC/S Have added a couple other 1911s to the mix in the intervening years a high end Fusion Bobtail for my 50th, a Stainless Combat Commander that was a steal with a bad plunger tube stake job. Love my DWs right now. Just a rocky road to get here.

Let's see... my first 1911 was a 3" micro compact from Springfield Arms. Second was a Sig GSR . Both in 45. I was fascinated with the platform, which I hadn't fired since my military time. I went on the "big forum" and started asking questions.

I stumbled onto the DW forum there, and saw a number of people who had "COTEP" under their tag line. I contacted an old guy named "Doc" aka "Clyde", and the rest was history.

Now, the stable includes the original two, plus DW Patriot, DW CCO, a Guardian in 9mm (which my wife absconded with, but I do get to clean it) and a DW Guardian in 38 Super (shhhh... she still doesn't know about it. It looks exactly like hers, but its mine mine mine....)
