This is a DOD film from 1944 on combat firing with the 1911A1. Just click on the link. Some of it, especially the grip, is still pertinent.

Thanks Dave, it was interesting and informative. I did notice however, no one was practicing trigger control. They ALWAYS had their finger on the trigger even when the instructor was in front of them!

Thanks for sharing, Dave. Great video. Dovetails nicely with a book I'm reading BULLSEYES DON'T SHOOT BACK, The Complete Guide To Point Shooting, by Col. Rex Applegate and Michael Janich.

Thanks, Dave.

I think the USAF still uses that as a training film. :D

LOL I sure hope not!
Probably the one they showed my old man (rest his soul) but I can see we have come a long way, at least with safety measures and better grip technique.
Unfortunately, as a race of beings, living on this planet, we have not evolved much, have we?
Sorry, I just had a bad day..I guess. Just got home, relieved my .45 from it's holster..
Thank God DW makes a reliable pistol, cause we still need one, no matter where we are in this world today, or were yesterday..or will be tomorrow.
