I said good bye to the following today
my 24"ar-15 varmiter

I loved shooting quarter sized 5 shot groups at 200yds, but i had not shot it in almost 3 years. well 2.5 to be exact. Time to let it go. I was into it for 1500 and let it go at 2100 today. I did include 10 new 30 round mags and a case.

I also let go my Dan Wesson 22VT with 2,4,6" barrels

It was a super fun gun, but i had found my 617 no lock 10shot and had not fired this in 2 years either. Time to let it go also.

The third was a recent acquisition. Just under a year with me. It had been on my list for about 10 years. I picked up the P7PSP and thought i would love it. I could not shoot mag after mag. I typically shoot 300 rounds or more through at gun at a time. After 3 mags one could barely hold this gun. So after a lot of deliberation this went today also

In return I picked up a few new guns.

First is an RZ-10 Stainless. 10mm 1911 has been on my list for a long while. With DW selling or preselling all their 2013 handguns and most of 2014. I was not sure i would be able to find one. So i snatched it today.

The next was a RZ 45 heritage Stainless also. Nice clean gun. will make a great range gun.

Both have typical DW quality. the RZ10 though is a beast to rack. I can hardly wait till i can shoot it. I will need to order my ammo beginning in feb.

My third gun is a bit of a quirky one. I have wanted a CZ-75, not the 75b but a cz75 for a very long time. The gun i picked up is an AT8. What the flark is an at8s. Well the owners and makers are ITM of Switzerland. They later made the AT2000, and them finally changed their name to Sphinx. The gun is dirty as hell. The shop gave me credit for 1/2 day of degooping the gun. why people sell dirty guns i don't know. Just amazes me.

Anywho I picked up the progenitor to the Sphinx 3000! yay me!

479 for this, current rate for one in Ch is about 850-900 CF. so Damn near a steal.

I had just not shot it in years. I was given a fair price. Fairer than i had been offered on the local forums. By almost double. So my suspicion is that both it and the P7 will hit the owner personal collection. They broke their No consignment rule and sold the AR-15 Varmiter for me.

Congratulations. Not sure about that AR decision, but hey, a gun that you use is always more fun than a safe queen.

Looks like you got some AMAZING guns in the process.

I found myself going through the same process, and I can not say that I am sorry. I spend a LOT more time at the range because of my decisions. And that is really what it is all about.

There are a couple of guns that I miss, and wish that I had back, but am I happier? YES! nanner

I have 2 more Ar's in the safe. That one was just really pointless under 200yds. I don't have that kind of range space here in CT. I do think i will spend far more time at the range now than i had been.

A few weeks ago i got my pricing sheet for Ammo. I plan on setting up another buy here for the CT guys. If i have time i will put it up this weekend.

I have been fighting that for better part of a year since i picked up the 617. I took it out 2 or 3 range visits ago. I just found i enjoyed shooting the 617 more. When i went in to make this deal. Trading this in, along with the p7 and rifle allowed me to pick them all up with cash in my pocket. Yeah I will miss it, but in trade i ended up with a few guns i am far more likely to shoot regularly.

If you are that interested Call Evan or Paul at hiller sports

I am out of 9mm, and no one local has 10mm. so i will have to just work on the 45.

I think you made out well. Now was the perfect time to drop the third AR.

So i spent some time cleaning them today.

The rz10, came apart and went together nicely. Wiped it all down and oiled it with 30wt, and put all back together. The fit and finish is nice. Getting the recoil spring and plug in the slide is a chore. Heh, there were a couple of Sproings and choice words.

The Heritage RZ45, Wow was tighter than an accountants wallet. Jeeebus. How they got it together i do not know. I will have to work it alot to get it smoothed up. I am thinking of applying a bit of bore paste to the rails. But that is only part of it. The barrel and bushing are super snug. The barrel at lock up is even tighter. Oddly enough it has a Brown labeled bushing where as none of my other DW's do. wiped it all down, then oiled and put it back together. I can hardly wait to get it out.

The AT8S well. I poured hoppes into a ceramic container and brushed all the bits down and then let it steep with the lid on for a few hours. I took the slide apart.

Dropped the rear sight out of the dove tail, It had a bit of rust right there. I cleaned a good portion of it off. It looks like i got most of it, but i think i have a bit remaining. It is surface stuff, the size of a pin head. So i will worry about it next week.

I pulled the firing pin and it and the spring were damn near a solid bit of goo. As was the extractor. I started to take the frame apart and realized that i really did not have the time to do that today. I am going to have to dismantle it and do it piece by piece. On the dust cover of the frame i found a bit more surface rust. No pitting under the loop. So it looks like i caught it in time.

I scrubbed the frame down, let it sit, scrubbed it again, blew it off wiped it down and repeated about 20 times. It is now passably clean. I Want to do a bunch more, it really needs to be taken all the way down and cleaned piece by piece. That might allow me to lighten up the DA trigger.

I will take a look a and see if i can clean up the sear if needed. I am not sure if the grittiness is due to the trigger or just built up gunk. Most of the gunk i had to remove with a dental pick, so it is old and nearly rock hard.
