Like the title says I had a very un nerving problem today at the range. I took my 870 to the range to try out 4 different types of ammo to shoot out of my 18.5 and 28 inch barrels to see which one would be more accurate in each. I shot my 40 rounds of slugs threw my 18.5 with out a problem. Then switched out barrels to run the rest.

I was fine for the first couple of slugs. Then when I looked down the top of the barrel to look at the peep sight it was like looking in a fish tank to see the target. Everything was fishbowl or coming in and out of focus. I did run too small of a target for the 28 inch barrel as the beed sight was the same size as the target but I kept shooting. It did effect my shooting.

I then tried putting out a much larger target out when I had some left over slugs to shoot at 100 yards. It was better with the larger target but was still there. I thought it was my glasses because they are starting to de laminate on the edges around. But when I got home I put the 28 inch barrel back on the shotgun and didn't have the problem.

I didn't do anything out of the norm, I'm not on a different med, and did eat breakfast.

I was shooting 2 3/4 slugs today.

This is me running my 18.5 barrel.

Now with the 28inch barrel

then now at 100 yards with the 28inch barrel.

SOLUTION: ONLY shoot with the 18.5.

You're welcome.

It has happened to me. How did I correct it you ask? I removed the front sight/bead. Keep your eyes on the target and shoulder the weapon, pull trigger. With practice, you will be on target every time.

Shakes and blurry vision need to be checked by your doctor. Doesn't sound right to me. The short answer on shotguns is they should be pointed not aimed. Biggest mistake is having a gun that doesn't fit you. IMHO shooting slugs at 100 yds is just not the best match. Like a pistol if thats all you have you have to use it. I love shotguns but they are why they are.

Beer was after the fact.

Yea I know a shottie is a shootie, but dam is that wasn't nerving.

Sad part is I still shoot a shootie batter at a hundred yards then a rifle funny
