Thanks. So simple and so natural it has to be right. I can still hear Gunny Floyd using the same explanation in 1958. He thought I had a natural God given ability to do everything the hard way. Best advise I ever had, "listen to the music and get out of your own way, son." I was a very proud 18 year old country boy with those expert rifle and pistol badges. That advise has worked ever since in everything, although I am still instinctively trying to overthink the easy way to this day. My operative word is whoa! then go. A lot of instructors are still teaching thumb up making thumb safety release an extra step rather than automatic.
