My RIA compact is flared exactly the same way yours is and it does not dent the brass like that.

I suspect your extractor may be a little tight.

I would agree but I am no smith. I would try to adjust your extractor it looks like its a bit tight.

Does altering the ejector and extractor constitute "Unauthorized Gunsmithing"???

(which voids the warranty)

"If the firearm was modified and/or repaired by an unqualified gunsmith without permission from Armscor, then the warranty will be void."

I would not think adjusting the extractor would be considered gunsmithing.

Bending the extractor to adjust tension won't void the warranty...filing on the ejector may. Dave Waits has an extensive thread on all this in the gunsmithing sub forum

I already posted the link. I also PM'd John.

I also think it may be extractor tension but I have sent this thread for Arnel to look at for me.:)

Since it does not affect function, I am hesitant to tinker with the extractor and ejector. I bought a Colt Series-80 that had the extractor tinkered with before I bought it, and I spent countless hours bending and filing the extractor trying to get it to work right. No matter what I did, it was still a Jam-o-matic until I replaced the extractor with a Wilson Bulletproof Extractor.

Probably why I don't mind external extractors, they just work (except MIMbers)

To me it seems a simple matter of removing the sharp edges that catch the brass.
