I don’t know that. I’ll see if I can look that up. It takes 4 AA batteries. But it has a key backup. |
Very nice!
|
I change the batteries on my locks twice a year, needed or not. Much better than finding corrosion on a $80 lock's electronics. Coordinated with my smoke dectector battery change. Easy to remember.

I still have a little work to do. Mainly to build the shelves that the rifles sit on. Right now I have them on the floor. But it’s a start.
https://i.imgur.com/pV5hERZl.jpg Main rifle setup. https://i.imgur.com/Dksdkmml.jpg Bins with mags and other odds and ends. A15 mag holder on the right. https://i.imgur.com/DbP0VLn.jpg Pistols. The peg is too large for 22 pistols. https://i.imgur.com/GiAmYByl.jpg The Mosin bayonet and other things. |
Very nice, I like !! http://www.cotep.org/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
The pistol pegs accept .380 and larger calibers only, nothing smaller from what I've gathered. Do the pieces that the long guns sit on/into not clip into the wall panels as well ???? |

They don’t. It surprised me at first. They are designed to sit on the shelves or the floor. I watched one video from the manufacturer and the reason is the shelf can hold more weight than the rifle trays would be able to hold by themselves. They had a 90 pound gun along with several other guns to show this. Fortunately the shelves are designed to hold six rifles a piece. So it should work fine for me. |
Yeah .... I can see those pieces sitting on a shelf would be much stronger than just clipping into the panel itself .... makes sense now.

Somewhere I’ve seen a picture of one of the shelves with three 50 cal ammo cans full of ammo, so the shelves can definitely hold the weight. |
New Gun Closet
Coming along nicely! I had forgotten you had an X95 (I think that’s the designation). Where is the bow going to sit? [emoji12]

Well, have you had a chance to mess around in the 'gun closet' any more?
|
Everytime I see these pics it makes me want to re-do my gun room. This is such a great system!
super tempted! |

I got the main rifle shelf installed. Because of the narrow width of the closet, I can’t put two side by side like I planned. They have a four column shelf, but even that is too wide. I ordered a few single rifle bases so I’ll have some flexibility. https://i.imgur.com/LNL7ykNl.jpg I like the way the pistols turned out but I need more. Since I have more space on the right side of the closet, I ordered right handed posts. https://i.imgur.com/eZeaGEdl.jpg I also like how the top turned out. Lots of spots for miscellaneous stuff. https://i.imgur.com/0355WqPl.jpg Once I get the stuff I ordered now, I’ll show the final version. |

Yes. I might end up doing that. Also on the left, I purposefully left space to add two large panels if I need them later. |
I can see that's one of the BIG advantages to this system, being able to customize it to fit your individual needs.
|
Looking good! Moving that panel to the left would definitely give you more hanging space.

This is really awesome! My gun room is 10x8 so I could utilize these and expand for years with this system. Love this. Getting my estimate together so I could see how much to do this.
|
Well, any engineering changes/mods/upgrades being contemplated/in the works since your last post?
|

I ordered some individual pieces that I’m waiting on. Once I get those, I’ll probably be done for now. |
When you get your latest parts order in and get everything situated as you want post a few pics.
You've now got me engineering a gun room to be in my basement, and, it's all your fault. :D |
So if you don’t mind telling what have you got invested so far into your new room?
|
Here’s cost so far
Original kit $1100 Additions $400 Keypad lock $80 Steel Door $300 Construction work and paint $300 About $2200. But the investment is similar to a quality safe. My townhouse doesn’t have anywhere I could put a similar sized Liberty or other name brand gunsafe. |
That’s not bad at all considering how customizable it is.

I received the extra pieces I ordered. So this is the final form for a while.
https://i.imgur.com/vsIkYiRl.jpg I got three of these single rifle shelves. I may move this up the wall for a quicker grab since this is my go to house gun. https://i.imgur.com/MjEWYBBl.jpg The single shelf is adjustable so you move the heels to let the butt sit perfectly in the cradle. https://i.imgur.com/ic9NH4Ul.jpg Close up of the six gun shelf. https://i.imgur.com/QQxSuNYl.jpg The single display pistol posts come in left and right. Since I had a lot of extra space on the right side I got a few display posts for that side. https://i.imgur.com/YZNs9Qol.jpg Left hand displays https://i.imgur.com/Sv9joYol.jpg Simon is not impressed. Other than add a few rifles, this is pretty much it. Down the road, I may add two large plates on the left side. We left room for that so it will be easy to add it. |
Very nice!

Looks great, thanks for keeping us posted on your project. Update with any future additions.

Looks good and organized. I like it.

Bonus picture. As part of the bedroom redesign, we built a new closet system. One was assigned to me so ammo wouldn’t be hidden behind the shoes and etc of our closet.
The shelves are a about 24”x24” and can hold three full 50 cal ammo cans. The shelves are designed to handle 200 pounds each. https://i.imgur.com/5UV790Il.jpg Shelves of ammo. https://i.imgur.com/0yL4sVhl.jpg All of my range bags and miscellaneous stuff fit too. |
Awesome...... one of these days I will have a storage build myself, till then the clothes closet will be my tactical storage unit. Lol...

Well, you've got everything 'important' :D organized now, looks great !!

Any new mods, updates, changes, how's everything working out so far?
|
I haven’t changed anything since the last pictures. Having lived with it for a while, there are a few things I might have done differently but they’re so minor that they’re not big deals.
Both my wife and I use it daily. The only issue is it’s too humid and warm in the room. My current dehumidifying solution isn’t cutting the mustard. I don’t want to use a gold rod because it’s already too warm in that room. So any dehumidifiers that might work but don’t use heat would probably work. Just haven’t found anything yet. |
If feasible/possible and assuming it's a forced air system, do you think running a air return duct along with a heat/air duct to that gun room would help any, would keep the humidity/temp in that sealed area in line with the rest of the house ?
|
What’s your humidity reading? I use something similar to one of these in my safe——-> https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020670699

And one in the "gun room" in the open. Yes, I have OCD. Mine are digital with readings and history so I can see if they are changing. I know I am a bit overkill but I do highly recommend them for anyone with a gun room or a safe. I also have the golden rod heating elements in my safes too. |
