It’s possible. I’ll have to look in the attic to see how close the nearest duct is.

I have two of those types in the gun closet. It’s just not keeping up.

New Gun Closet

Then you need some AC in there or put louvers on the door.

I agree, he needs some air circulation, but, I do believe he installed a insulated steel door on that gun room.

Remember, if its feasible, the needed duct work will not need to be the same physical dimensions as what it's being attached to, all you're looking for is some controlled air circulation in that small space.

Keep us posted bud

Have you had time, and, if so, what did you find out?

Yes. We have about two feet above the space even though it’s near an outside wall. There is a duct nearby, so my construction guy is coming by in a few weeks to build me a vent.

We'll use DampRid until he is able to do the work.

Any updates on the climate control project in your gun room?

Only that the DampRid really works. Humidity is now around 50%. Not as low as I would like but better than it has been. My construction guy won’t be able to stop by for a few more weeks.

RKP 02-01-2020 12:15 PM

At least you're able to hold it at bay until your construction guy can pipe your ductwork in.
I'd heard decent things on that DampRid working good in smaller enclosed areas.
Looking forward on seeing how this works out for you.

Any updates for us Andy?
It won't be long until I start on my gun room/shop project (basement).

None. My construction guy is booked out for a while. The DampRids are working well though.

Sorry. No changes.

Finally my construction guy had time to install the AC vent in the gun closet. He ran a duct from the main duct in the bedroom into the closet. He also put a exhaust vent so I can control the ventilation in the room.

This is where the exhaust vent out of the room comes into the living room. It’s about 10 feet up.

Here is the exhaust vent in the closet. The vent into the closet is near the opposite corner.

New AC register.

It was at 70 percent when we started. It’s already dropped by 15 points.

We also found a small hole that used to bring a DirecTV line into the house. Sealing that will help too. I’ll keep watch on this and see what adjustments need to be made.

I shouldn’t need the DampRid bags anymore.

Nice Andy! 55% is not bad. Hope you all are doing well in these times.

55 is good, I can't get mine below 60....hovers around there all year round.

RKP 07-12-2020 08:42 PM

Good deal, I know you're glad to get that completed. Thanks for the update !!
