That ain't right! Teasing us like that. Why, it's like, like showing a child a hot fudge sundae, then telling him he can't have any as you gobble it down. It ain't right I tell ya.:p

Yes, those are all spoken for. I only make grips for 1911s.

Outstanding grips. You still gonna make us wait til April to place orders????

Olympus 01-12-2012 04:57 PM

Unfortunately. I've got about 50 more sets to complete in order to get caught up again. It will probably take that long. I was also transferred with my job, so I'm having to deal with moving to the opposite side of the state, sell my house, and get moved. Got a lot on my plate right now.

Blue Ridge 01-22-2012 05:43 PM

I still maintain that these: http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y.../P61400572.jpg are some of the prettiest grips I've ever seen. I *really* want a set as close as you can get to them for my Vbob. If sending you payment in advance would help at all, please let me know!

oldrifleman 01-22-2012 06:48 PM

If you happen to get a pair like these that you don't have a customer for, send me a note and consider them gone :D Steven

Blue Ridge 01-22-2012 07:06 PM

Yeah, I'd be more than happy with those as well! (3, 1, & 2 in order of preference) if by the slightest chance some of those would be easier to come by!

Honestly, I've got more work than I can handle so payment in advance wouldn't make things easier for me.

Unfortunately, I think I have decided to eliminate the special order option completely. Some people have left a very bad experience with special orders. It's nearly impossible to locate wood that looks similar to something I've done in the past. I've got too many other people wanting grips and I don't have the time to scour my sources in an attempt to find that "perfect" set for someone.

As soon as I get caught up with my past orders, I will be making grips for the public and ironwood will be used frequently. If I had a dollar for every email or forum post asking for me to let someone know when such and such is available, I could retire early. I'm not trying to blow people off, but I honestly get so many emails and requests from people that I can't remember who wants what. I used to be able to do, but it seems my business has blown up this past year and I'm swamped with orders.

My recommendation, "friend" us on Facebook and get a heads up when new woods are going to be added to the website. Or starting in April, check the website on a weekly basis to see what comes up.

I'm not going to be searching for pieces that are similar to ones I've made in the past. I offer a truly one of a kind product and that's why people choose me. I would have some unhappy customers if all of my new products were based on something I made in the past. My suppliers know I am only interested in the unique pieces, so I will continue to make one of a kind sets.

The woods that I use are not something that can be mimicked or copied. I primarily use burls, and burl pieces are like snowflakes. No two pieces are alike. Asking to find two snowflakes that are as close to matching as possible would be a tremendous job. So is trying to find two pieces of burl.

Thanks, I understood this already and was just paying the compliment. As for April, I will be watching. Great work and I appreciate the reasoning behind your business plan! Steven

I apologize, I must have misunderstood your meaning. Thank you for the compliment!

That's kind of what I was thinking. I figured it would be better if I showed examples of past stuff rather than try to pimp stuff that is for sale.

But I won't complain one bit and will happily follow suggestions. I was generously given my own section here and have had a great experience here. I want to continue and will do whatever is asked.

oldrifleman 01-24-2012 03:32 PM

I was in NO WAY wanting to stop the wood pron that is reflected here. I seem to have started a mess that was totally un-planned. I for one love to drool over some of this stuff and dream of having some of it one day. Steven

AutoMag 01-24-2012 03:45 PM

Just keep doing what you have been doing, I also like to dream looking at the grips!!!:):)

Clyde, go back to sleep ole man!!!!:D

Blue Ridge 01-28-2012 11:09 PM

Yeah, by all means, post what you have, old or new. I'm sorry to have asked for some that looked like ones you'd made before, I just thought they were some of the nicest I've ever seen -and exactly like what I would want for my Valor.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure one of the weak-willed members here snagged one of those sets pretty quickly too!

AutoMag 03-30-2012 11:30 AM

Very nice!!

It was not me though, my money is going to 4 new tires on my truck as I type!!!

That sucks... I hate spending money on cars...

Olympus 03-30-2012 11:59 AM

Me too! Seems like we've had a rash of car issues recently too. Water pump, thermostat, plugs, and a coil. And I think I'm starting to hear the low moan of a wheel bearing starting to go out. Forgot about a bad cell in a battery, so add a new battery too. All on the same vehicle...

AutoMag 03-30-2012 12:03 PM

I just picked it up from the dealer, ball joints and a hub assembly and rear diff service, $1300.00 and I get the parts at cost there!!!

Big Smoke 03-30-2012 12:24 PM

In the past 3 years, I've had to have my transmission rebuilt ($2500), a junk yard rear differential installed ($1500), and a junk yard engine installed ($2300). And now I find it needs a tune up, and a few other bugs with this engine. My next car is going to be a bicycle. :p

oldrifleman 03-30-2012 11:34 PM

It was me and I stand ready to snag others I can find. I have no (very little actually) shame. Can't wait to see them in person! Steven

Olympus 03-31-2012 08:21 AM

I think you will be very happy with them. I almost decided to keep them for myself and put them on my CBOB.

AutoMag 03-31-2012 09:21 AM

Congrats Steven!!!:)

Well, they will be on a CBOB, just in a different state. Steven
