I wonder if DW is building these for them or will it be CZ's first 1911?

When I contacted CZ they would not say who or where the new pistols were coming from..

My bet would be Auto Ordinance for the builder.

There's been talk? on the 'other' forum that these will be built by DW, but, it has not been confirmed one way or the other by Keith ... yet, so ???

Dan Wesson is building the CZ 1911s per CZ rep...
A gunsmith friend of mine is a CZ and DW dealer. When I heard about the CZ 1911 coming out I asked him what he knew and if DW would be building them. He said that they'd ordered 4 of them but he didn't have any info beyond the press release but would check into it. Several weeks went by and I got this message from him yesterday when we were discussing something else -

Btw we had the CZ rep in the shop the other day. He said the cz 1911s are being made by Dan.
Thought you guys might find that interesting. I asked him about MIM parts but haven't heard back.

Price?

Couple of things I don't like about it.

1. Does it really need to say made in the USA on the slide, when the frame clearly states, Kansas City, KS

2. Why the different fonts and printing depths of the roll marks on the left side?

CZ and 1911 A1 should have the same stamp depth. Did there really need to be such a huge gap in spacing between Cal and 45 also?

Some may think this is nitpicking, but if you're going to do something, do it right, not half assed.

IIRC I was told there will be MIM parts in it.

This is a direct quote from Keith on the big forum:

Quote:

There is no MIM or plastic in this particular model

Xbonz 01-15-2015 09:23 PM

From Keith at that other forum:

Quote:

You can't make a 1911- here in the states- for anywhere close to $500.00. Not one of this quality anyway. There is no MIM or plastic in this particular model and GI parts are like Hens Teeth. Quality ones anyway. Unless you are making 10,000 of them or more and can afford to pay for MIM tooling and such but CZ only plans to make 1,000 of these this year.:(

CZ marked the slide like they do all of their pistols. BTW they sell a heck of a lot more CZ pistols than DW's... I can't blame them for branding them this way. Besides, All the other GI guns out there either have HUGE engravings on the slide or plaster the whole left side with roll marks. The CZ's are a balance between the two.

The CZ rep at the Shot Show confirmed it will be made by DW. It has Kansas City and "Made in USA" on the slide. Very nicely made. Wide spur hammer. Dovetailed front sight. Slightly beveled mag well. Good trigger but not as good as a DW.
