As a matter of fact, I have one. Here she is:
Attachment 1125 Grrr....I'll post another right side up. She was a great handgun right outta the box, both reliable and accurate. I like the Bobtail frame for EDC. She eats all the different ammo I've fed her no matter which company or bullet type. The fit and finish was spot on and I really like the Duty Treatment which holds up to use as advertised. She's a big hit at the range as most folks there have never shot .38 Super (or even a Wesson) before so she usually gets passed around. Have yet to have anyone unhappy with her performance. I purchase almost all my ammo online at GunBot....great selection at great prices, delivered right to my doorstep. Unlike what you often hear, ammo for it is neither hard to get or expensive (except, of course, for the typical match ammo brands). Only made two mods. One was more grips but not because the factory grips were ugly or bad in the grip department but because I'm a grip guy who can't resist buying them. Bought a pair of VZs that were a little more grippy just in case I needed that and a pair of Esmeraldas cocobolo DDs because I love her cocobolos. Those are the grips that you see in the pict. The other is the replacement of the factory trigger. I have very short fingers so I replaced it with a Harrison Custom IonBond short trigger (also in the picture). It worked as advertised and I'm quite happy with it. As a matter of fact, I replaced all the factory triggers on all 12 1911s I own in my collection. 8 have the Harrison short triggers and 4 have the Dawson Custom short, flat trigger. These are on my competition guns so that finger placement on the face of the trigger is just one less thing to worry about. I do like the the short, curved triggers better, however, in terms of looks. Rick |
Hey Rick, thanks for the feedback. ;)

Rick, Thanks for the appraisal. This fall I traded a brand new unfired SS Wilson Combat Compact CQB in 9MM that just didn't fit my large hands for A full size SS Wilson Combat CQB fired but like new in 38 Super. The 38 Super was everything I had hoped and is a favorite cartridge. I have bumped into a couple of great deals on a new DW Guardian in .38 Super and I am on the fence torn between the above and a Les Baer Comanche in 38 Super. There is about a $600 difference in cost. I have owned Baers in the past and had no problem but Mr. Baer's attitude regarding his 100% satisfaction warrantee gives me pause. It is nice that he is proud of his product but telling customers to pound salt does not inspire confidence with me..Should I have a problem I want the person who made the gun to care that I am concerned.

While I wouldn't be adverse to owning a Commanche HW Monolith in .38 Super the price difference between that and the Wesson IS significant. Add to that the Wesson is a top notch gun in its own right swayed me in that direction and I must say that I'm not sorry with my choice. That's a tough choice you must make and I wish you the best in making that decision. Rick |

I've never had to deal with him but I've noticed one thing about Less, for the most part the people who comment on him seem to of had a 'not so positive' experience with him, especially if they've experienced problems with one of his pistols.

DENNIS! I was cruising along, content and happy, minding my own business and you had to bring up a 38 Super Guardian. My addiction is rearing it's ugly head. Thanks!:D

I am fighting with it. I need another 1911 like I need another hole in my head. The 38 Super is a fabulous cartridge and a joy to shoot through my full size WC. I think it would be even more fun in a carry size piece like the Guardian. It you are seriously looking right now sheepdog I have found 3, one used, like new; one new, blemished and one new all under $1300 Happy to share the info. dennis

Guardian - best of both worlds
So I bought my first Dan Wesson (yes a Guardian) 3 years ago in 9mm - it is an amazing 1911 to shoot - everyone (including me) loves it. I began wanting one in 38 super, but could not find one anywhere in the midwest that they had priced reasonably.
Problem solved, called Dan Wesson and ordered a .38 super barrel and spring, four mags from Wilson Combat and wholah (sp), its now a 9mm by day and .38 super by night. Neat solution! Mike |
Well. I did it. Traded my trusty Dan Wesson ECO with a dealer in Pa. for the Guardian. I have it and it is beautiful. No range time yet as I am out in Palm Springs desert outrunning Roadrunners (the birds) and trying not to step on a Rattlesnake. Got stranded on the Top of the Aerial Tram yesterday afternoon when the damn thing broke down. Not fun. My last tram ride. Ran ge report and pictures to follow. Oh, I couldn't swallow Baer even though I found a new 2015 model GT Monolith Stinger in 38 Super. I ain't looking back.

Getting stranded up on top of that mountain isn't that bad of thing....it's simple gorgeous up there. In regards to the Baer's new GT Monolith Stinger, did you happen to see the price??? $3090 for the regular Mono and $3190 for the heavyweight in 38 Super, the 45's are $2915 and $3015. Unkle Les must be into smoking dope now. Not no, but hell no to those prices. |
