You would think, with the level of firearms training these guys receive, he'd have known better.....Just goes to show it can happen to anyone.

Why not? It is a relevant news story and serves as a reminder to everyone on here that, regardless of years of experience or training, to treat every weapon as it is loaded. A reminder to not become complacent and take anything for granted when handling a firearm......

Why would you even put a gun to your head, whether loaded or unloaded???

Bar & woman = should have known better. Even a SEAL can have moments of stupidity. May he rest in peace. :(

So sad, this just remindes everyone to follow the gun saftey you took when you were 12 years old no matter what!

That's exactly my reason for sharing it. It is so easy to get complacent when you deal with something for so long and on such a frequent basis. All it takes is one slip. Although, his was not so much a slip as a severe lack of judgement. Either way, it is very unfortunate. What a shame to lose someone who spent so much time and dedication, endured so much physical and mental stress, and proven his mettle to achieve his trident.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man and his family!!

While this is truly tragic and my prayers are with this young mans family, I can't help but think "Darwin Award Winner" at this moment.
